From: Mississippi | posted: 1/23/2005 at 3:47:59 PM ET You all sound so young so I hope you’ll let an oldster way down in Mississippi chat with you every once in a while. I retired this past May after teaching Kindergarten and first grade for 40 years. I never had much time for anything else but raising my daughter and school. In late summer I bought the “Annie Get Your Gun” cd and fell in love with Bernadette Peters. I have since purchased most of her movies, cds, Tony award shows, programs and playbills. My sister and I are flying to Houston in April to see her concert. Oh how I wish I would have been a fan when she did “Annie Get Your Gun” and “Gypsy” because I surely would have been there to see them. I’m up to page 42 in the chat room so I still have a way to go. I just wanted to thank you for all the links, photo sites, and information that have been so helpful to me.

We have posters ranging in age from high schoolers and those a little bit older. Glad you found us.
I'm originally from New Orleans but now I'm just outside Houston. I'm going to the Houston concert too-cannot wait. I've never seen Bernadette perform live (life and other stuff always got in the way),so this is a special treat.

As Jenn said, we have members in every decade of life from the teens through the seventies.
It always amazes me how so many people can see one show or hear one recording of Bernadette's and immediately become hooked as fans. She has that effect.
Glad you're reading the archive--it's a wealth of information, opinion, and resources.
Have fun!

I'm only sorry you did not discover Bernadette about a year or so ago, so that you might have had the opportunity to see her incomparable performance in "Gypsy." She gave the greatest performance I have ever seen in the theatre.
Yes, we are all ages here. (For the record, I am somewhere in the middle at 45.)
Welcome!

I know the feeling. I got to see Bernadette in "Gypsy" several times and kick myself that I didn't go to AGYG when I could have when it was in Washington, DC. Wasted years of adoration!!
But at least we did finally find her!!
I was in Sarasota a little over a week ago for a job interview; I keep wishing they'd call me back so I can go to her concert there Feb. 2. If only!!!

| posted: 1/24/2005 at 4:29:53 PM ET I too missed the golden opportunity of seeing AGYG in DC. I was planning to see the Broadway production a few months later in New York and thought to myself "Why would I want to see it in previews?" What was I thinking and why was I being such a snob???? I wasn't even a big fan of Bernadette's at the time, knew who she was from a few apearances here and there but always thought she was the woman with the annoying voice.
But then I saw AGYG and have been catching her every chance I can get since. All those wasted years when I could have been taping her TV appearances, etc. Ugh! Though I have more than made up by collecting everything I could get my hands on. Need to sell some of on ebay at this point.
And welcome Carolyn
