"Off the Stage But on Her Toes
It is not enough for BERNADETTE PETERS to give people the song and dance on Broadway. It turns out that her first vacation in nine months from "Annie Get Your Gun" was a kind of busman's holiday, which may explain her joy about returning to the show tonight.
'We need a rest from our vacation,' she said.
Indeed. Ms. Peters and her husband, MICHAEL WITTENBERG, a senior portfolio manager for Salomon Smith Barney, spent most of their time in Miami taking salsa lessons and putting them to use.
'We took lessons in the daytime and danced almost every night,' Ms. Peters said of her vacation. Getting away from the night-after-night-and-matinees-too
routine 'was really a lot of fun,' she added, 'but at the end we were exhausted.'
Or one of the vacationers was, and it was her, not him. 'Michael already has the phone book open,' she said, 'to look for dance places in New York.' "

| posted: 1/11/2005 at 4:18:02 PM ET I was just thinking about that. It was so funny and cute when she taught him how to salsa dance and at the end he picks her up and twirls her around. He has to be 3 times her size and he looked like he was picking up a feather or something.
Of course I also think that on the evening of the day that show was taped was one of the times Bernadette had to leave the stage during a performance of AGYG to throw up! What exactly did Ainsley put in those, what was it, sweet potato something?
Another favorite moment of that interview - Bernadette mashing potatoes - oh dear Lord, the woman is wise to stay out of the kitchen.
Can't believe I remember that much of it. Really must find that tape.

Yes, I vaguely recall someone saying she got sick that evening.

Well more like rap but maybe she was going for something musical.
I just remembering yelling at the TV: "They just need to be mashed, you don't have to actually kill the potatoes as well as the bowl. It's a masher not a jackhammer." LOL

She even said "the kitchen isn't one of my better rooms!"
Cute interview & salsa dancing. Unusual host...not sure what to make of him.
"I'm not upset about losing the money, it's losing all the stuff."
