The movie was broadcast on TV for the first time in 1997, I believe. It's often played around Christmas time because it has a Christmas theme. The ending is kind of sweet in relation to Bernadette's character.
Enjoy!

I love that she gets to do the accent right (she wandered a little in AGYG, to my ears). I love that she puts so much charisma, charm, heart and honesty in what could have been a throw-away.
Acting students, take note.

And, I've probably watched this movie 5 or 6 times, and it's especially warm-and-fuzzy at this time of year.

It's Lumberger cheesy (sorry, Jean), and the big harr looks like a bad, bad wig (couldn't they have just piled high her own beauty hair?) and looks too much like this Tammy Faye-esque woman on Trinity Broadcast System, who wears a wig on top of a wig on top of a wig and lashes as bushy as catapillars.
But...the duet of "Crazy" is worth the smell and watching Bernadette act in something bad is still good.

I really just enjoy seeing her body of work, from the early Carol Burnett/1970's movies, through the very important 1980's stage, to the TV/theatrical movies of the 1990-2000's to AGYG and Gypsy--what changes, both physical and in her performing style. We've seen her grow up in front of us, and become such a charismatic and richly layered performer.
It's especially interesting to me to see how she handles her roles in not-so-good movies and TV--it's easy to be great in Pennies from Heaven or The Jerk or Impromtu or Fall from Grace, but to keep my attention and make me think about the character in Pink Cadillac or Tulips is indeed a true talent.
I've said it before, but she really does seem to give it her all, regardless of how stinky the vehicle (that would be Limburger, wouldn't it?).
A true Fanadette (hiding from the Redskins game).

From: Bradenton/Sarasota, FLA | posted: 11/28/2004 at 4:04:52 PM ET Aarrgh!! My spelling smells bad too!! Jean, I couldn't think how to spell it, so goggled Lumberger, and the Internet being what it is, found me the wrong spelling. (just now when I plugged in 'Lumberger cheese,' then it said 'Do you mean "Limburger cheese"?')
Am I not a true Fanadette 'cause I don't think the movie is too good? I watched Saturday though I'd seen it before and have it on tape. Still gotta watch Ms. Peters work.
Has it been noted on this site that AGYG the movie will be shown on Turner Classic "for the first in 30 years." I think the date is Weds. Dec. 8.

No way! If being a fan means liking every single thing the object of fandom does, then I'm in trouble!
