What's your favorite Bernadette story? Either one she's told or one that you've heard about her.

My favorite that she's told: meeting her husband. My second favorite that she's told: Tulsa-style chicken parmigian.

My favorite that someone else has told: Sondheim saying about her comments on SIPWG: "I don't do nude." ("I've never worked with anyone I like working with
more than Bernadette," says Sondheim. "She tells you exactly what's on her mind." He remembers sending Peters an early version of the script--which called for Dot to pose naked. "Bernadette called up and said, 'I love it, but there's just one thing--I don't do nude,'" Sondheim says, laughing. "It
illustrates how absolutely direct she is. You don't have to go around the mulberry bush with Bernadette." (quote is by Steven Sondheim, Life Magazine, July 1984)

I second the "how she met her husband" story. That is such a cute story.

I think one of the funniest interactions I've seen was when she was on with Regis and the caller for the contest that day had a drapery business. Bernadette made the comment that she had a "drapery problem" in her house but wasn't going to bore the caller with her problem. Regis pushed and asked her "What's the problem" to which she replied "There's too much light coming in." Regis said "it's a problem with the drape itself." Bernadette (who I think at this point knew she was walking into a HUGE punchline) replied "I don't have any drapes." Regis basically just put his head in his hands...the entire audience it laughing hysterically and then she said "And that's the problem."

I think that was my favorite back and forth interaction between her and Regis. There are so many to choose from but that one always cracks me up!

Here is the Tulsa-style chicken parmigian story as remembered by Christine. Bernadette originally told the story on Regis, maybe in early 2001?? Part of the charm is seeing her tell it.

CBS Sunday Morning (June 8, 2003):

"I brought a teapot home to my father and he said, 'You stole it?' and I said, 'Yes," and he said, 'Well, couldn’t you have taken one that wasn’t chipped?'"

She makes committing a {minor} crime so charming.

How did I miss watching that? Which show was it on? That's like when she talks about playing Dainty June when she was 13. It's so cute how could anyone mind it?

I agree Azeller that is the funniest story about the drapes...that sticks out in my mind...but so does a little story on the Regis show...
Regis asked Bernadette if she and her husband ever fight and she kind of plays it off a bit and then she says they fight when they go to the gym because he "says ok honey just do 500 of these and 1000 of these..." and she was like..."YOU do them..." out of frustration. LOL She's so cute!

Did anyone see the Regis that preceeded that episode (I didn't), because apparently he was asking if she and her husband ever fought and she was like ummm nooooo, and then she came back with the gym story the next day. Did anyone see the other episode? I am mad I didn't see it, I bet it was cute!

Does anyone have copies of these that they could make? I'll pay. Or I could make the copies if someone would lend them to me.
