I would pay BIG $$$ to see those "13 pages of single line notes" that laurents gave to Sam on the 1st night of previews......I wonder if there is some kind of way to find out.....

It sounded like he was more upset with details like set design than anything else, which is understandable. I always thought Laurents was part of the impetus for the production -- he wanted to see someone closer to the real Rose in the part.

From what I've heard he was at first generally not pleased with the "design" and structure of things. I had a friend who was there the night he was there for previews and who knows him. Evidentally he is a rambuncious(sp) and has a bit of a temper. But this is word of mouth through my friend.

I have to agree with you cutieboi. Anyone that was at the 1st Actor's Fund Chat might remember that Peter Lawerence discussed the transition from the old set that involved wagons that would transition the scences to the end result. I think many involved with GYPSY besides Arthur debated the decision. The fact that it was the 1st night of previews when the old set was up furthers his displeasement with it. BUT I have to say that everything going on with him and other issues with gypsy makes me not so fond of him as a person
