From: Maryland | posted: 7/14/2004 at 3:17:10 PM ET Well, I know she doesn't care for Bernie much.
I've also seen Carol Burnett call her "Bern." So I would be inclined to say she doesn't mind that nickname. But apparently, some call her Bernie anyways...who knows?
There just aren't really any good nicknames for "Bernadette." It's such a lovely name, though. Why shorten it?

| posted: 7/14/2004 at 6:46:58 PM ET Well its just what I have read or heard. Can't remember which one and her appearances on the Carol Burnett show and The View seem to back it up since its quite public that both Carol and Starr are friends of hers.

She had to sing a duet with the teen-aged Donny Osmond, of the Gladys Knight and the Pips song "If I Were Your Woman." Suddenly, in the midst of it, Donny tried to get "funky" by interjecting a shouted-out "Now listen to me, Bernie!" (with his eyes closed soulfully). This really happened; it was not just a bad dream.
