From what I have read there are tons of different "kinds" of vegetarians these days. I also remember when she hosted with Regis a few years ago and she spoke about ordering chicken parmesan. I've heard her say she definately doesn't eat red meat but I am not sure about other things like fish and poultry....

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 7/4/2004 at 9:33:08 PM ET According to the American Dietetic Association:
"The eating patterns of vegetarians vary considerably. The lacto-ovo-vegetarian eating pattern is based on grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, seeds, nuts, dairy products, and eggs, and excludes meat, fish, and fowl. The vegan, or total vegetarian, eating pattern is similar to the lacto-ovo-vegetarian pattern except for the additional exclusion of eggs, dairy, and other animal products."
Well, Bernadette can call her eating regimen whatever she wants, she's happy and healthy, it works for her, and that's good enough for me. I notice that lately she doesn't talk so much about being a vegetarian but rather says the no red meat thing.

From: Maryland | posted: 7/4/2004 at 10:27:37 PM ET Like I said, there are different levels, not really kinds, of vegetarianism. Vegans eat nothing that came from an animal - meat, eggs, milk, honey, etc. Vegetarians are people who do not eat meat, and within the vegetarian category there are lacto vegetarians, ovo vegetarians, and lacto-ovo vegetarians.
There are semi-vegetarians. Some of them will eat chicken and fish, some only chicken. And then there's a whole issue of what fur and leather counts as...
There's a lot of flux, I guess, as there is a lot of debate within the animal rights community.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say they are vegetarian and still eat fish or chicken. And it's not even for moral reasons necessarily. But there are a lot of problems that result when so many people who claim to be vegetarians eat a type of meat. Especially when you go to restaurants and have to specify that fish is indeed an animal and it can't be used in the caesar dressing.
Do I like Bernadette any less because she eats fish and chicken? Absolutely not. In fact, I think her dedication to helping animals is one of the reasons why I love her so much.
And whatever she does diet and exercise wise CLEARLY works for her. That More magazine photo is amazing. And in person, she's even more beautiful.

From: Ohio | posted: 7/5/2004 at 1:12:13 AM ET I must agree with everything you have said. Particularly that this MORE magazine picture is fabulous! WOW!! I don't know how I've missed this one before...but I think it's officially my favorite Bernadette picture.
About the vegetarian thing--there's such a thin line when you say you're a vegetarian. To be honest...I stopped eating red meat recently myself. I don't consider myself a "vegetarian" because I will still eat fish and occassionally I will have chicken. I just simply don't eat red meat-it's a health choice. Anyways...I'm getting "off the topic" BUT I agree with you--and Bernadette looks fabulous!! Maybe we can continue this "meatless" talk in the off topic room?? I'll start a thread I think.

From: Maryland | posted: 7/9/2004 at 2:48:18 AM ET No, she doesn't have a tattoo. But for the Rodgers and Hammerstein album, she had a temporary thing done on her arm that said BP + R&H in a heart with a bird and flower attached, it looks like. The photo is now her head shot, I believe, but minus the "tattoo."
