Doesn't sound like a very appetizing suggestion to me, but if she doesn't accept, he'll probably get all bitchy about that too. Seems like her choice is either an unpleasant meal, or further provoking his ire. No matter what, I'm sure Reidel will figure out a way to milk the situation for the utmost personal publicity. Ugh!

I'd like to have him for lunch myself -- tied to a spit.

In his May 21 garbage column on Murphy he wrote, "If Tonya Pinkins doesn't win the Tony Award this year, I'll buy Bernadette Peters lunch." Now he's trying to take her to lunch which is what he's wanted to do all along. He's so dumb and low that in the NY Magazine profile, he basically admits that if people meet with him, he won't attack them.
If he was really serious, he could simply send her a gift certificate to a wonderful restaurant and she could auction it off

He's quite vicious, politically far-right, and apparently has a pretty severe drinking problem. Needless to say, he absolutely loves the spotlight. For the past couple of years he's been strenuously attempting to publicly feud with Bernadette Peters. To his eternal chagrin, a feud has never materialized, because Bernadette has never given any indication she knows he exists.

Why would ANYBODY want to eat with some who has been nothing but rude and ignorant to them. I am sure that he would put some ridiculous spin on it to make himself look better.
The charity offer is a great idea.

| posted: 6/18/2004 at 3:19:44 PM ET You know, the first time I saw something written by that Reidel character, I seriously thought that it was some sort of parody. It never occurred to me that someone would seriously say those sort of things in a theater column. Boy was I naive.
Bernadette should tell him to skip the lunch and spend a couple of hours washing dogs for Broadway Barks.

I consider it to be a Tabloid as opposed to a News Paper.

| posted: 6/18/2004 at 4:50:51 PM ET It's funny - Bernadette was on Dave Letterman's show back in the 80's, and she brought along a copy of the Post. She read something out of it and then she and Dave had a big laugh sort of making fun of the Post in general. I've got that on tape somewhere....

Dave mentioned something he had read in the Post, and Bernadette quipped back in a sarcastic way with, "Oh, well if it was in the Post then it MUST be true." LOL Classic.
