I CAN"T BELIEVE IT! I was really hoping to see it one more time! Why would they close it??? I really hope Bernadette and the rest of the cast is ok.........
Bliss, I'm really sorry! I was also hoping to see you once more......and Leon, and Rose.......I'm rambling.....but I can't believe it.
This show was a huge part of my summer this year and I was hoping to repeat the experience. Wow........ I don't know if anyone is going to agree or relate with me on this, but I thought it was wonderful how everytime I wanted to see Bernadette, or any of the wonderful people I met this summer, I could just go to the stage door and say hi!
To everyone in the cast: Please know you did more that just great performances. You have made an impact on many people's lives.....
You either got it, or you aint!

From Internet Network: 205.188.209.x | posted: 2/2/2004 at 8:35:57 PM ET I wanna tell all of you im somewhat cursed with bernie. I flew to NYC to see her in may (the week she was sick), so then i flew out in august and got to see her thankfully. However, i was planning on a return trip march 6th to see it. I called my friend who knows some of the people who work at the theatre, and he said it is VERY likely that it will be extended, and that if they can just keep it up thru feb-april, they believe tix sales will be back up. So keep your fingers crossed, but im somewhat optimistic it prolly wont be closing Feb 28th, cause i imagine that tix sales will go thru the roof with this announcement.

1) you can hold it for a bit to see if they will extend;
2) if you bought it via phone/internet, call the TELECHARGE customer service number (800-543-4835) and they will tell you what to do. Have your reference number handy if you can.(Basically you send them the ticket and you get a credit on your credit card.)
3) If you bought the ticket at the box office, I imagine you can walk up to the box office, hand them the ticket, and get the refund.

Registered: 9/3/2003 | posted: 2/2/2004 at 9:32:20 PM ET Geez, I feel like something has died! This is so awful! I hope that this is just an attempt to boost ticket sales. It just doesn't seem real. It doesn't seem like anybody involved with this production would give up without a fight, Bernadette especially. So I guess, if we really want Gypsy to stay open, we have to go out and buy tickets.
Kate, thank so so much for taking your time and posting with us, talking with us, answering our questions. It truly has been a blessing. You are extremely talented, and I know you'll go on to great things.
I can't believe they'd close on BP's birthday (and mine. *tear*) That seems almost... cruel? Mean. I hope she had some say in that part of it or something. I just can't imagine...

Registered: 7/17/2003 | posted: 2/2/2004 at 9:39:50 PM ET Well, we can't give up hope quite yet! Let's hope there is an increse in ticket sales that will allow it to stay open! I do find it hard to believe though that they are closing it due to the weather. The weather will get better a the tourists will come back! I can't believe they don't have more faith in Bernadette and the rest of the cast! So lets just keep hoping!!!!!

| posted: 2/2/2004 at 10:11:53 PM ET This is really upsetting news...and we're not even in the show! Imagine how the cast and crew must feel.
I'm sure they will not give up so soon, and ticket sales will increase. I just saw the show on Friday and I did not plan on going back for a while, but of course now I got a ticket for the 28th just in case. I'm hopeful that it will stay open longer, and that with the news of the closing the show will sell out and give Producers reason to believe again.
I just can't believe they would close the show on her birthday. That's just mean.
*Side note: I LOVE Finding Nemo.

From Internet Network: 69.133.107.x | posted: 2/2/2004 at 10:41:56 PM ET RELAX guys...it's ok. This was bound to happen-but I don't think the show will actually close. This is a publicity way to try and get sales up. Yes they have lost money--but as a producer the show will more than likely go on--especially if sales go through the roof--which I'm sure they will. They may not extend the show that long--but it may go until late March/early April and then from there they will make a decision. This happened with Les Miserables, Cats, and it happens all the time with a lot of really good shows that have been running for a while--you would be amazed at the inside information at how close so many shows get to closing--but as soon as publicity hits the tickets soar. Lets cross out fingers. I'd give it a week or so and the announcement may change-hopefully.

From Internet Network: 134.126.4.x | posted: 2/3/2004 at 8:43:09 AM ET Just saw this news this morning. I'm devastated.
I was just watching John Dossett, playing a priest, on a "Law and Order" rerun on TNT last night.
I was toying with getting to NY for Berndette's birthday. Now I'll have to get there somehow this month.
Why would they redesign the Web site if they were not going to continue the run??
The heck with it. If they close this month, she should take it to London. They know what's good theater there...
