Well, she was there. It was my first time to see her perform live on Broadway. I had intentionally not purchased the cast recording in advance so that it would all be fresh and new. I was not even that familiar with the play. She was having a bit of an off night but hey, it was Christmas night and the house was only about 70 percent filled (which was also a little frustrating for us as we paid $200 for tickets and there were empty seats beside us.) She looked fabulous as one would expect. Her acting I thought was excellent even in an off night. She did clear her throat and cough several times during Some People, but her singing improved after that song. At the start of the second act she delivered a line about packing up the cow and the dog which was apparently in error and she, John Dosset, and Tammy Blanchard fought back laughter for the rest of the scene. It really was fun to see and it made me appreciate that they all must really enjoy each other. The laughter resolved before the Together number which they performed nicely. I read another review from a matinee performance on the 12/27 (I think) with which I agree. I found the entire performance to be very enjoyable everyone in the cast is great and they all work together and have chemistry even on an off night. It was great but I didn't that overwhelmed feeling I was hoping for.......until Rose's Turn and let me say...she turned it on. I was totally captivated. It really was one of those live theater moments that I will always smile about when I replay it in my mind. I wanted to rise to my feet at the end of the number but I held back. Maybe she is a savvy enough performer to know that even if you give an average overall performance if you end great that is what people will remember. I don't think that is the case. I think that it is just a perfect match with all of her abilities and it feel right to her. She was obviously giving a great performance and you could tell that it wasn't just those of us who are "taken" with her. The energy of the entire audience increased during that number. My overall review would be I loved it. I loved the whole experience of NYC at Christmas and her being a part of it. I would also say (at the risk of being banned from this board) maybe she is miscast as Rose. No fault of her own, we all know it is about money and ticket sales. I would encourage anyone to go who has the opportunity, but be aware that you can get good discount tickets from the TKTs booth. Oh yeah one last thing.....I did buy the cast recording on my way to NYC and as always she very patiently signed autographs smiled and made all of feel very appreciated. I think the fact that she every night interacts with fans says more about her than any review of a performance. I will see her again any time I have a chance.

Isn't there a line in the show where BP says something like "if you have a big finish they will forgive you for anything"? Or am I hallucinating and/or confusing it with something else?
Everyone has an off day though a BP off day is still better than most people on a great day. If I were in her shoes I'd be wondering why I was doing this XMAS evening!

I acually like that she had a little strain in her voice because thats my favoite part of Broadway, giving it all you've got and hearing the srain.

You're not halluncinating, don't worry. The line occurs in the beginning of Act II when the Toreadorables are rehearsing. I believe the exact line is "Remember, girls, if you have a strong finish, they'll forgive you for anything."
