Hi everyone! OK- I just had a thought, yes, another thought!!

The scrapbook is looking great and I showed it to some of my friends! They were reminded of the book we made for our highschool drama teacher a few years back. Along with the book we also made her a CD filled with songs we had picked for her. Songs that we thought represented her or songs that reminded us of her.

My idea is to do a similar CD for Bernadette. Now, I know it's kind of late notice......and I know burning CDs is not really legal... But I thought maybe the board could give me some songs that represent or remind you of Bernadette and I could put it into a CD and hand it to her with the scrapbook.

I think it's a wonderful gift since I have received one in the past. Along with each song I can put who picked it and why!

Let me know what you think. I leave for NYC on Tuesday so I have a couple of days to put it together!

Hope everyone is good.

Chiquita (Erika)

P.S. It could have a theme. My was a NYC theme so all my friends picked songs to do with NYC since I love the city so much!

You either got it, or you aint!

How about "Song of Bernadette" by Leonard Cohen/Bill Elliot/Jennifer Warnes.
Bette Midler sings it beautifully on her bathhouse betty cd.

You don't have to give me credit; I just figured because her name is in the title, plus it has a really nice meoldy and lyrics.

I feel bad that nobody else is posting ideas.

How about, "Broadway Baby."
Bernadette has been singing that song for decades now, and I think it's very much associated with her as a singer/Broadway Actress; considering that she has been in the business since she was a child.

"New York, New York." I know it's more assciated with Frank Sinatra and Liza Minnelli, but I think it can be associated with Beradette since she is from (and still lives in) New York City. Plus she was in the New York, New York commercial after 9-11.

Just a thought: I wouldn't put any of her versions of songs on the cd...unless of course there are no other versions. Most singers (not sure about how Bernadette feels about it) prefer not to listen to themselves.

Thanx Christine! I guess people are busy! I'm leaving for the city today so I might not have time to make it. However, I can always send it to her later!

Your ideas are great and I agree that none of her versions should be on it!

One song that I love is Music of my Heart by N'Sync and Gloria Estefan....I think that would be great!

Who knows maybe we can send it to her for her birthday?!

Keep suggesting though, I might have time to throw something together!

Hmm.... There are so many songs that remind me of Bernadette, but now, I can't think of them.. Argh. That's frustrating.

She's mentioned before that she like Bruce Springsteen and Cyndi Lauper... can anybody think of any of their songs that have a "Bernadette" feel to them?

Maybe "Dreamers" as done by John Barrowman? Bernadette always seemed kind of a dreamer to me. This song just seemed to fit.

"Let Yourself Go" a la Kristin Chenoweth?

"The Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha. I'd love to hear her sing it. LOL.

"Defying Gravity" from Wicked because she always seems to defy rules of any kind when she sings.

I'm all out of ideas.. sorry.

Speaking of Cyndi Lauper (who is one of my favorite singers), she is going to be performing in Times Square tomorrow (New Year's Eve).

From Cyndi's official website:
Cyndi will headline this year's Times Square festivities on New Years Eve. Cyndi should perform At Last, Until You Come Back To Me and Stay. Portions of the New Year's Eve events will be broadcast on tv, however we do not have exact times and stations. Check local listings.

I think one of her best songs is "True Colors." That would be nice for the cd.
