First, it was held at the LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts - the inspiration for the movie Fame! We got to sit in the auditorium while pre-show rehearsal was going on which included getting to hear Harvey Fierstein joke around and seeing Christopher Plummer (yes! Captain Von Trapp! Wow and he is still handsome) rehearse. I helped seat Boy George (he was there for his musical Taboo which believe it or not has some beautiful songs) - I never saw such a sight! I was very calm and didn't break in to Karma Chameleon (although I'm still singing it in my head - one of the popular songs of my youth). I also helped seat Donna Murphy, Leslie Uggams and Alfred Molina among others. Then here came the papparazzi following Hugh Jackman in! I gave him his programs and he looked right at me, smiled that gorgeous smile and told me "Thank you very much". I then proceeded to swallow my gum. Later in the evening, I directed John Lithgow to the men's room (also an idol of mine from Footloose and Third Rock!) I was also seat filler for Jai Rodriguez, one of the stars of Avenue Q, while he did his presentation (Seinfeld reference: Kramer "won" a Tony because of his seat filling fiasco). There were big Broadway stars up and down my section the whole night. Taye Diggs and wife Idina Menzel (star of Wicked) walked right by me - they are way too beautiful! We weren't allowed to take photos or ask for autographs, but it was a night of swooning on my part anyway. I will not soon forget it ….nor will my sore feet after standing up for over 3 hours in dress shoes. The only disappointment for me was not seeing Bernadette! Here's a link to find out who won: http://www.nypost.com/entertainment/24178.htm

I tried the Webcam, but gave up. I was hoping Tony Kushner would win-he grew up in Louisiana (Lake Charles, which is near the TX border. He was born in Manhattan.). So I was rooting for him!

| posted: 5/18/2004 at 3:52:11 PM ET A friend of mine goes to that Highschool and she IM'd me the other day asking if I was interested in the Drama Desk Awards. I said, "Uh Duh, yeah!" then she was like, "Okay. Well it's too late for this year, but I'll keep that in mind for next year."
She can get me tickets for free and I wanted to kill her for not mentioning it sooner so I could have gone this year. She was like, "Oh, well I didn't feel like volunteering this year." Oy!
