I've never seen the show before and I have to say it was amazing. Maybe just the intensity was high(er) today being Harvey's last day but it was wonderful. I took my parents as an early Mother's Day/Father's Day present and they both loved it was well...especially since it took place in Baltimore and was modeled after an actual show they used to watch in the 60's and my uncle used to be a part of dance group. Many of the former cast members were there as well as John Waters from the original movie.
The ending was quite emotional...which is why I know I would never make it through the Gypsy final performance even if I could attend.
Just thought I would share my view of the show today. I really cannot imagine someone else filling Harvey's shoes. I will be interested to see if anyone on this board sees it when "Lenny" takes over. I'd love to get an opinion of his performance.

I met him one day...he's very strange, and not very nice.

Although I've never met him, I have seen him around Baltimore on a few ocassions. Never approached him though. "Strange" is probably a good word to describe him...especially if you've seen any of his other films. I think most of his movies are an "acquired taste."
