I just have a question...has anyone seen Hairspray yet? I was just wondering what Marissa Jaret Winokur is like because as many others I was stunned when she received the Tony this year. Was her performance worthy? Just curious lol because I can't imagine anything being better than Bernadette as Rose.

i saw hairspray last year when it was still in previews and i liked it alot but i was disappointed in it. i had heard so much hype going into that i was let down. yes it was a great time and a hilarously written musical but i agree with you in that marissa did not deserve it over Bernadette! not at all, but thats in my opinion! marissa's voice is sqeakier and her acting is no where near where Bernadette's is! i just got back from Ny alittle bit ago and the first show i had to see was of course Gypsy! and wow..........thats all i can say still after many weeks! she was just outstanding, i mean i saw her perform at the tonys(on my lovely little tv) and thought she was robbed! she deserved it then just for rose's turn. and dsereves it even more because she was soo convincing as Mama Rose.

Yeah Bernadette's amazing. I can't wait to see the show, I'm going in about two weeks!

oooo! Have fun! its outstanding, i have always loved the music and then i found out that Bernadette was going to be in it, i knew i had to see it! plus i saw the tonys....and i gave her a standing ovation in my living room. then when i saw rose's turn live.............there is no word to describe it, i was shaking, crying, smiling, tapping my foot to the beat, heart pounding..it was almost like being onstage myself!
HAVE FUN! and ENJOY!!!

I have spent over a year complaining about how much I hated HAIRSPRAY. Then, I thought about it... I had fun at the show! So what was the problem? I realized it was the weaknesses of its leading lady, Miss Winokur. A lot of funny moments were dropped, and her singing leaves us clinching our teeth and squinting our eyes. However, she is no longer appearing in the show, so I am willing to give it another shot!

Well I saw Gypsy a few days ago. I had front row seats! It was a breathtaking show, and Bernadette being robbed of the Tony is an understatement! I've never seen anything like it in my life!!!! She was brilliant! I've never had such a wonderful time. But you know, I think that the five minute roaring applause Bernadette gets after Rose's Turn, and the standing ovation she gets every night and that she got at the Tony's, just has everyone saying, 'why the hell didn't she win?' Well, anyways I hope she knows she deserves it!
