There's really no appropriate place to put this, but Katherine Hepburn died today at the age of 96.
Even though she had a very long life, and I knew she was over 90 years old, I was still surprised to hear it. I thought she was gonna make it past 100.

She was such a great actress; and such an icon.

Christine..your words are exactly what many of us are thinking. I, too, hoped she would make it to 100. But, she lived a good long life, and truly was an icon for generations and generations.

We'll always have her films to remember her by.

She had been ill for some time. Making it to 100 might not have been a wish for her.

Sometimes, death is a release when you've been ill for some time. I worked at a children's hospital, and when someone is ill for some time, and in such pain,it is a release. Even though in a young child's or a baby's life, and it is absolutely wretching and you ask questions for which you have no answers, when someone is in such pain,it is a release.

You don't get used to it. Ever. But you start to understand how death is a release for the person. Not for the family, though they understand that the child is no longer suffering.
