I saw both of these in the last few weeks, and recommend them both, with major reservations!

Movin Out-its DANCE-2 hours of it-no dialogue, sketchey plot; but, if you've seen as much dance-classic, modern, post-modern, whatever as I have--it's just heaven to see. (A special memory for me--seeing TWYLA THARP! bobbing and nodding to her Movin Out small band at Stars in the Alley.)

Take Me Out-it really is "naked boys...not singing", and you need to know that; Richard C. on ATC has posted a fair review, and expresses my feelings about this play very well. (Just don't be like a lady I know who went to see it because it is about ...BASEBALL!!!)

  | posted: 6/15/2003 at 6:34:12 PM ET Thanks for your thoughts. I have seen Movin Out but not Take Me Out. I'm not a big ballet fan so at times I caught myself looking more at the technical aspects of the show and the backstage goings on which are my true passions. But I was still glad I went and my friend who is very into ballet really liked it so I guess I just appreciated it for what it had to offer.

Have to get to Take Me Out soon. I've fallen in love with the actor who plays the lead character.

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 6/16/2003 at 2:55:03 PM ET Yes, Daniel S. is quite the looker! He has captured the look, swagger, and attitude that I imagine a famous and sucessful athlete would have. But, the cast is uniformly good, a few riveting.

One thing I forgot to mention about Movin Out-I am not much of a Billy Joel fan, but I was surprised and pleased at how the dance/music/story all fit quite nicely. As a matter of fact, I never even knew that he had written some of the songs. That said the sound is turned up awfully loud, (even for my old ears)and I wound up with quite a headache.
