From: NYC | posted: 2/19/2006 at 6:35:04 PM ET GO SEE GREY GARDENS! It's off-Broadway but will hopefully move to Broadway after its run at Playwright's Horizon (Sunday in the Park With George got its start there). It is gorgeous and damn funny. Christine Ebersol SHINES. It is only supposed to be through March 26th but I don't see how it won't at least extend there.

From: NYC | posted: 2/22/2006 at 1:27:44 PM ET According to the box office - the entire run is SOLD OUT. The box office said it is going to extend but they haven't received official word yet so no tickets have been issued yet. Stay tuned. You shouldn't miss this show.

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 4/2/2006 at 11:16:22 AM ET I saw Grey Gardens yesterday; I really don't like to do "reviews", so I'll just say that:
1) it was worth the trip;
2) I agree pretty much with the NY Times review;
3) from having seen Ebersole a few times before on stage (42 Street and Dinner at Eight **), I had no idea that she could sing as well as she did, act as well as she did, and in general take over the stage the way she did. Put me down as a new fan. I especially liked that she didn't mug or overplay, as the material could easily be done that way.
**And, of course on tv, I remember her vividly from Bernadette's SNL skit parodying 42 street.

From: NYC | posted: 4/2/2006 at 11:44:09 AM ET I couldn't stand not seeing it at least one more time, in case it never gets the chance to transfer...so I'm going tonight. I am interested to see what changes they made since previews. Christine Ebersole is effervescent in this role.

From: NYC | posted: 4/2/2006 at 11:43:25 PM ET Just got home from visiting Grey Gardens for a second time. The performance by Christine Ebersole and Mary Louise Wilson is just truly extraordinary. The audience was applauding like mad after the end of the first act and wouldn't let Christine continue for an eternity after her opening number at the top of the second act.
Marvin Laird was there and as was Alan Cumming who sat four seats away from me in my aisle; I also saw Charles Busch and Randy Harrison (from Queer as Folk). Afterward I got talking to a lady who was Christine's dresser at "The Best Man" and sort of ended up in this little group of friends of Christine's so I was sort of in on the conversation afterward - Christine said the audiences are all on fire now because the subscribers finally finished with their pre-purchased tickets and now people who really want to see it are seeing it. She said that so far no one has stepped forward to bring it to Broadway. I forgot to ask her if they are recording it. I hope it ends up going out to the Old Globe in San Diego or somewhere like that for work and then triumphantly returns to Broadway next season. There are just too many good things about this show - the best being Christine.

| posted: 4/9/2006 at 11:48:33 PM ET AHH! Finally saw it last night. BRILLIANCE!
Christine Ebersole is amazing. The writing, acting, singing, sets...it's all great.
If I had more money I would go see it again before it closes.
They should extend the run AGAIN.

THAT would be better than just a vocal recording.
Wasn't "Sunday in the Park With George" filmed there?

Grey Gardens--recorded-like for PBS? or for the TOFT at Lincoln Center? or just audio? so many possibilities...

From: NYC | posted: 4/10/2006 at 12:32:31 PM ET Didn't SITPWG start at Playwright's Horizons and then move to the Old Globe in San Diego for a while before making it to Broadway finally? I'm hoping for a similar path for Grey Gardens, however please don't think that I'm comparing the two shows in any other way because they are completely different on so many levels. I love both for so many different reasons.
