For those interested...the *new* Star Search premieres on CBS Weds. January 8th @ 8pm(Eastern) with host Arsenio Hall.

Yeah! Now I have something to watch on Wednesday's....since The Amazing Race is finished for this season. LOL
Is Ed McMann (sp?) hosting this one?

LOL sorry  I didn't read the last line in that first post. oops
It definitely won't be like the original, but havng a panel of celebrity judges should keep people interested until they develop an opinion about the show and the type of talent it brings forth.
I was so young when I use to watch that show, so I can't wait to see it from an older perspective now.

Am I the only one who has been watching this?
If you guys haven't tuned in I suggest you do the next time its on! The children's singing category is by far the best part of the show! This past episode they had the semi-finals. It must have been hard being a judge because all three girls were so terrific!!!
There is this 10 yr old girl, Tiffany who absolutely blew me ( and I think everyone else) away the first time I heard her sing! She has unbelievale stage presense, a great range, perfect pitch and tone she has "it" all!! The only thing that sort of annoyed me is that her song choice wasn't very different from the previous week.
Meaghan , was fantastic too! She has great stage presence,seems to connect very well with her songs( more so than the other two girls) and has an amazing range. She sang an operatic piece one week and then a (much)lower range piece the next. She has a very unique and distinguished voice! She's also one of the most stunning little girls I have ever seen. I think the biggest difference between Meaghan and Tiffany is-- Tiffany seemed to be singing TO the audience while Meaghan seemed to be singing FOR the audience. In the long run I think Meaghan's style will be more effective!
The third girl, Maridel has a very pure and very very beautiful voice and also great pitch but I think she seems a bit too coached and stiff. She's also an amazing artist! ( http://www.lucban.org/maridel_terciano.htm )
All three of these girls undoubtedly have a future in show business!! If you get a chance check the show out!

I watched the first one, but it's on against Friends on Thursday's! If I was home I would tape one on one TV and watch the other on a different TV, but I work, so I have to choose b/c one of my VCR's is broken. 
I also work Wednesday nights, so I can't control the TV for an hour when I'm not even home! It's hard enough telling people in my house they can't change the channel when Friends is on!
I wish they would have Star Search on the weekends (like Saturday and Sunday...after American Dreams of course).
