I got to see these two show yesterday and thought I'd give my commentary

The set of DotV was quite impressive and there were some nice lighting effects. Unfortunately that's about all the show has going for it Overall the show seemed to be a hodge-podge of styles. Out of nowhere a whole slew of vampires would start dancing to rock music... I got the distinct feeling I was watching a stage adaption of Michael Jackson's music video of Thriller. The Total Eclipse of the Heart song was cute.. the first time. Listening to it subsequent times made me wonder why they couldn't come up with their own theme song. I would dare to say that if Michael Crawford's name wasn't attached to the show it wouldn't have made it out of previews.

Medea was a lot better. Even though I typically don't like the dramatic play genre I could recognize Fiona Shaw's tremendous talent. She has an enormous stage presence. I also appreciated the mostly Irish cast I do have to say that the the noise during the murder scene was *way* too loud that I found myself covering my ears. My God.. I get the idea.. there's no reason to deafen the audience.
