From: NYC | posted: 12/6/2004 at 9:44:47 AM ET Thanks to my friend Noah's recommendation, I saw "Gem of the Ocean" yesterday. It is very powerful and very funny. The dialogue is AMAZING. The entire cast is AMAZING. Phylicia Rashad is AMAZING. I plan to see it again. We waited after to meet the cast. Phylicia was so very nice and signed autographs. She is just as beautiful in person now as she was 10 years ago on "Cosby". I am passing on Noah's recommendation - it's a wonderful play.
Plus the celebrity citing was: Al & Tipper Gore!

From: Boston | posted: 12/6/2004 at 8:05:32 PM ET Yes, take my reccomendation! So glad you enjoyed it Sister Rose.
I was fortunate enough to see it in Boston before it's Broadway run. ($14, 6th row, student rush. Now why can't all theatre be that way!?)
And my friend Jen who goes to Fordham saw you Sarah, she also waited to talk to Queen Rashad.
Can't wait for my NY weekend, starts friday and I'm doing 4 shows in 3 days!

From: Boston | posted: 12/7/2004 at 11:47:47 AM ET I have a ticket for La Cage, but Pacific Overtures is sold out (the entire short run is) so hopefully I will have some luck doing rush or cancellation line. Especially since we're learning about kabuki theatre in my theatre history class right now and I have to write an extra credit paper on Pacific...I told my teacher I was hoping to see it and he said I should write about it...
so cross your fingers that there are tickets availible

From: NYC | posted: 12/7/2004 at 12:12:29 PM ET Chip - That's so funny that your friend from Fordham was waiting to meet PR too!
PA Fan and I are seeing La Cage w/ Chip and we're also seeing Trying on Friday night and Reckless on Saturday matinee. That will be 6 shows for me in 2 weeks plus I'm seeing "Aida" tomorrow night at the Met. Ah, one can never have too much theater!
Our friend Brandon was at opening night of "Pacific Overtures" - he didn't like it that much but he said that Sondheim fans will enjoy it so I'm sure I'll see it.

Sister Rose- I agree with your friend that if you're a fan of Sondheim you'll probably enjoy the show. It's definitely more intellectual than razzle dazzle, but i guess one would expect that from Sondheim. I liked it a lot, but my little sister and her friend didn't like it so much. But if you enjoy Sondheim's other work, you'll probably enjoy this show also.
Good luck getting tickets Chip! I'm sure it would be interesting for you since you're learning about kabuki theater

From: Rhode Island | posted: 12/7/2004 at 4:21:04 PM ET Chip- I just checked the roundabout theater's website, and they appear to have tickets to pacific overtures, atleast for saturday night. You might have to click on the diff. price ranges, seats didn't come up for me until i clicked on the mezzanine. But I'd try that website if you're looking for seats. Playbill and ticketmaster don't seem to be offering them.
