I feel a little bad for her, but at the same time I'm so excited that Emily gets to skate. Michelle's had 2 Olympic skates, so it's not like she hasn't had the experience of it all.
Poor Emily though has a lot to live up to with what her sister did in 2002.

Absolutely. No one doubts that Michelle Kwan is one of the best skaters-from any country-in the history of figure skating, and she's lasted a lot longer than many skaters.

I would rather her leave gracefully now rather than see her falter during competition.

Is it just me, or are these "tributes" on NBC more like eulogies? Her legacy was never dependent on these Olympics. She's had influence (and revenue) from her career like no other skater. She is a phenomenon who just got unlucky at the Olympics. There are many gold medal skaters, but few legends. She is a legend, undoubtedly. I've seen her perform live and she is even more incredible in person.

I am glad for Emily as well. Irina Slutskaya must be thinking, "Not another one!" Nervous for Sasha.

And how different everything would be if Mao Asada (Japan) had been able to compete! She only missed it by four months, I think.

I think Sasha will definitely place this year. She's improved so much since the 2002 Olympics.

Did you watch the pairs the other night? That guy from China who had surgery on his leg. It looked painful.

I wish Jennifer Robinson (from Canada) was skating this year. She is amazing.

I did see the Chinese skater with that injury-I feel for these skaters. Skating takes such a toll on the body.

(I'm watching the Westminster Dog Show tonight-I peeked at the paris totals already.)
