From: Texas | posted: 7/23/2004 at 2:01:36 AM ET this iskinda off the topic of Kristen, but, my friend just got a copy of the production of Wicked that premiered in San Francisco I believe, and he said that the girl who plays Elphaba is amazingly better than Idina. I was shocked to hear this. I think Idina has a great voice and she is also one of his idols. BUT, he said that this girl did some amazing optional high pitches and unique runs that wowed him. I can't wait to listen to it.

She is currently playing Liza Minnelli in The Boy Fom Oz, and my God does she have a wonderful voice. Of course she is mimicking Liza to a degree, but you can still hear her behind it all.

From: NYC | posted: 8/4/2004 at 10:00:09 AM ET Good morning! I saw Wicked last night! Row J, smack dab in the middle. Well - Idina was fabulous as usual. I am very impressed by Kristin's replacement Jennifer Laura Thompson as Glinda - there were times when she sounded exactly like Kristin and what a voice she has! She was flawless. The replacement for Fiyero,Joey McIntyre, was weak and I didn't think he really matched with Idina. He actually missed a line in his first song. His bio is pretty short so I'm not sure about the choice of him. OVERALL IT WAS GREAT.
It was my second time to see it and my friend/coworker Terry's third time. When I'm not listening to Bernadette then I supplement with the Wicked soundtrack. Terry has the soundtrack memorized and we have been finding occassions at work to quote from the script. I actually told somebody the other day that he looked "swankified" without thinking about it. He gave me a funny look and just walked away. I guess the language from Wicked is taking hold!

From: NYC | posted: 8/4/2004 at 2:02:47 PM ET George Hearn was okay. He's not Joel Grey and lacks that certain something but to me its not a key role so it didn't really matter. When he first came out there was clapping for him...not sure if people knew who he was or they just thought it was good to clap for "the wizard" or maybe they thought it was Joel Grey. He's a 2 time Tony winner so it's not like he was bad, just not Joel Grey.
