From: northern VA | posted: 12/28/2005 at 9:28:57 PM ET I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season and is ready for the new year. This was a very different Christmas for me and many I know back in the New Orleans area. A more reflective Christmas for me, definitely.
But anyway...did you receive a neat Christmas/Chanukah gift or two? Anything Broadway-related?
(Nothing Broadway-related for me, but we did have meat pies on Christmas Eve.)
Among my gifts were new luggage, The Muppet Show season 1 DVD, and money for my savings account (for when I'm ready to travel for interviews and move). It was a good Christmas.

I hope everyone had a good holiday season and a wonderful New Year.

From: northern VA | posted: 12/29/2005 at 6:38:40 PM ET Rose, is the Ethel Merman book the one that was just published a few months ago? I have that one, but haven't read it. I heard it's um...uneven.
Gypsy1527, I have the Playbill yearbook as well, and enjoy it very much. Too bad they didn't start this sooner, such as three years ago (can it be nearly that long ago?)

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 12/30/2005 at 8:05:00 AM ET Mandy, I really enjoyed our "Fanadette--Maryland Chapter" lunch yesterday. And what a treat to finally, after 6 (!) years, to meet a long-time poster, to see how one of our college students is progressing--and growing--, and of course to finally have a real chat with you outside of Shubert Alley.
To keep on point, although I don't celebrate Christmas or Hannukah, I guess I'll say that going to Longwood Gardens/Winterthur to see the holiday displays was my own personal celebration. (Hmm-last year I went to Atlantic City on Christmas....)

From: northern VA | posted: 12/30/2005 at 8:57:22 AM ET I did get The Muppet Show season 1 DVD, which includes quite a few Broadway performers. The Ethel Merman episode is my favorite.
(I looked to see when season 2-with Bernadette's episode-will be released, but it's not listed on Amazon yet.)

From: NYC | posted: 12/30/2005 at 2:46:33 PM ET That Fanadette-Maryland Chapter meeting sounded more like a summit to me.
I got new luggage for my world travels, a gift certificate for use at Lincoln Center, the dvd of Cappricio, an opera which stars Renee Fleming, some charms, a book about Kate Hepburn and a Texas Longhorns cap to wear all day on January 4th!
