Yes, they usually do. But I'm not sure who's performing this year.

Hopefully this will clear things up at least a little bit. (Though it still confuses the hell out of me, but whatever...)

The Thanksgiving Parade will be aired on TWO channels. Yes, two -- CBS and NBC.

So.

The REAL parade telecast is officially being carried by NBC. NBC will show the entire parade live, from 9am - 12pm, and will feature performances (live) from A CHRISTMAS CAROL, the Rockettes, and Harvey Fierstein and the cast of HAIRSPRAY.

CBS does NOT have full rights to the parade, but DOES have partial rights, which means they will be showing highlights from the parade from 9am -12pm. They will also be showing highlights from parades across the country. On THIS telecast, several TAPED performances from Broadway shows will be aired.

These are the shows slated to air:

MAMMA MIA!
THE BOY FROM OZ
NINE
WICKED
WONDERFUL TOWN
FAME ON 42ND STREET

I have NO idea the order of shows(since the official website is SOOOOOO courteous in not releasing any information about how the taped performances on the CBS telecast will be distributed throughout the parade.) Also, for WICKED fans, it's a bit unclear at this point whether the show will be part of the NBC telecast or part of the CBS telecast. The first press release said NBC, but now it's not listed as part of the lineup, and besides this, it's a taped performance. The second press release had all the other show info for CBS, but didn't mention WICKED.

And now my brain officially hurts.

So if any of you can get some more info about the WICKED performance, my Idina/Kristin loving heart would greatly appreciate it.

Q: Any funny incidents or accidents with Kristin (Chenoweth)?

Norbert Leo Butz: I have this Errol Flynn moment where I swing in on this rope. One night in San Francisco, I let go of the rope and the rest of the actors started cracking up. I turned around and the rope had literally tied around Kristin's head and got caught on her crown and was pulling her off stage. It was like watching Barbie get hung.

From Playbill:

Broadway Musicals Featured on NBC and CBS Thanksgiving Day Parade Telecasts

By Andrew Gans
November 26, 2003

Broadway fans will have to do some channel switching Nov. 27 to catch all the musical theatre performances offered on the NBC and CBS broadcasts of the Thanksgiving Day Parade. The 77th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, broadcast on NBC stations around the country from 9 AM to 12 noon ET, will feature stars from Wicked, The Boy From Oz (without leading man Hugh Jackman), Little Shop of Horrors and Never Gonna Dance. The annual parade will also boast Hairspray's Harvey Fierstein and the Dynamites performing an original composition entitled "Santa Knows." Tony winner Fierstein will be decked out in Edna drag in a holiday costume designed by William Ivey Long.5 Other parade highlights: the Radio City Rockettes; the New York City Ballet and the School of American Ballet; USO Troupe of Metropolitan New York and Camp Broadway, who will offer a tribute to the late Bob Hope entitled "When Hope Was There"; the group AntiGravity; and Jim Dale and the cast of A Christmas Carol. Matt Lauer, Katie Couric and Al Roker host the holiday classic.

The parade begins at 77th Street and Central Park West of Manhattan's Upper West Side. It will then make its way down Broadway through Times Square before taking final bows at Herald Square and ending at 7th Ave and 34th Street. For more information and a few helpful tips for those who are ready to brave the weather and crowds, visit Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade website at www.macysparade.com.

The CBS broadcast, which also airs from 9 AM to 12 noon ET, will include taped performances from a host of Broadway musicals. Nine's John Stamos, Mary Stuart Masterson, Rebecca Luker and Sarah Gettelfinger will perform "Only With You"; the company of Mamma Mia! will offer that show's finale, "Dancing Queen"; and the cast of the new Off-Broadway musical Fame on 42nd Street will sing the show's title song, "Fame." Hannah Storm and Dave Price anchor the 43rd annual Thanksgiving Day telecast.
