Carol Burnett did two television versions of Mattress. The first was in black and white and broadcast in the mid-sixties, the second, in which Bernadette played Lady Larken, was in color and broadcast in the early seventies(1972, I think). The second version also had Wally Cox, Jack Gilford, Ken Berry and Ron Hussman in the cast along with Jane White who reprised the role of the Queen. Both versions are regularly for sale on ebay. Bernadette was great of course, really adorable, but the part is relatively small.

Not at all. She made a wonderful Larkin. Larkin is supposed to be very beautiful and frustrated with Sir Harry and the situation they are in. She did a great job and got a lot of the comedy out of it. Carol Burnett is much more of a clown and more suited to be Fred. Though I'm sure Berndadette would have made a wonderful Fred, I think she was better as Larkin.
