I'm watching VH1's I LOVE THE 80'S right now, and it got me to thinking...

My favorite 80's performance of Bernadette's is the Witch from ITW. But there are other things she did in the 80's that I still love with all my heart (some of them more than anything else she's ever done...)

Here's my top 3 "Bernadette Performances" of the 1980s

1: The Witch, INTO THE WOODS
2: Lily St. Regis, ANNIE
3: Dot/Marie, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE

And some more fun "80's" top 3 stuff (and I swear I do not at ALL include myself in some of these fashion blunders... ahem):

Worst Bernadette Fashion Statements of the 80's

1: Frosted, teased hair, tied up with those BIG UGLY BOWS. (and I say that lovingly, since my father used to make them for a living. But oh god, how ugly...)
2: foiled gowns (gold or silver) with big puffy... things... on them. (You should see my older cousin's prom dress.)
3: Exercise outfits. Pink pants with blue lycra top. (Or vice versa.)

Anyone else have any fun 80's lists?

"A pretty sunset, is there?" asked Nanny, coming up to the witch's room in one of her rare forays.
"She's sent the crows out to blind the guests coming for dinner," said Liir.
"What?"
"She's BLINDING THE GUESTS COMING FOR DINNER!"
"Well, that's one way to avoid having to dust, I suppose."

I loved the music of the 80's:

Cyndi Lauper "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"
Culture Club
The B52's "Love Shack" lol
Madonna (her 80's stuff was great)
Tina Turner

My favorite 80's movies:
Troop Beverly Hills
She's Out Of Control
Back To the Future
Ferris Beuler's Day Off
Beaches

Favorite fashions back then (I wouldn't be caught dead in them now though lol):
*Side or high pony tails with really big bangs
*wearing 2 pairs of socks on each foot with different colors
*Big colorful jewlery (which I might consdier now actually)
*tying your shirts in a knot
*Jean shorts with colored tights underneath
*White jeans ewwww, I didn't even wear those back then!

Let's see, lol I was born in 1982, so Punky Brewster was so cool to me (fashion wise)...when I was like 5 or 6
And then Debbie Gibson was when I was like 8 or 9.

And as a child of the 80's, I loved:
Cabbage Patch dolls
Shera
Alf
My Little Pony
Glow Worms
Gummy Bears (the actual bears, not the candy)
Smurfs
Care Bears
Rainbow Brite
Strawberry Shortcake

*I could go on all day, but I won't* LOL

LOL, Christine, I did the same hairstyles and clothing things in the 80's. You can't forget puffy paint t-shirts and spandex, spandex, spandex. As a true Jersey girl, I definitely helped deplete the ozone layer with my big old feathered bangs lol. I'm really excited about the I Love the 80's Strike Back...like to an unnatural degree...i really DO love the 80's haha

I was born in 87' so I grew up in the 90s. I do remember side pony-tails and big t-shirts where you made your own design with that paint that came out of a squeeze bottle. I remember wearing high-top sneakers too.

Here's a cute snippet from I LOVE THE 80's on VHI:

Soliel Moon Frye (Punky Brewster) explains where she gets her name:

Soliel means "sun," and "moon" obviously is self-explanatory. Well, her parents plucked the name from a song in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN:

"I got the sun in the morning and the moon at night."

Not exactly a Bernadette reference, but a cute little reference that comes close.

Ahhh the 80's are over? Sorry I live in Alabama where big hair is still plentiful! Glad I'm not stuck there. I think my favorites that Bernadette did in the 80's was Into the Woods, Song and Dance and Sunday in the Park with George. I must say that I love her in Slaves of New York and Annie.

I wore so much spandex and stirrup pants suits it wasn't even funny. Punky Brewster was my idol! I still wear pigtails! I had the different colored converses with the colored laces and I thought I was the coolest kid in town!

Bump it with a trumpet!

I agree, I am so glad I was little in the 80's. I would not want to look back at my senior picture, or prom pictures and see Big hair and plastic/poofy dresses.
I think ANY other decade would have been fine to be a teenager, but not the 80's-early 90's.

I'm am currently watching "Oliver and Company" lol I know, I'm such a dork; but I love this movie and it's on tv. Anyway, ater remembering this thread I noticed that Oliver and Company was made in 1988, and the illustrtions are really good. I love the fact that it's set in NYC...and the characters clothes fit the styles of the decade.
K, lol that's all. Just thought I would add that movie to my list of favorite 80's movies.

the sad part is that all the fashions you all are describing ( i remember then slightly but I was a wee child, sitll i got them from my siblings) and I mean like 85 % of the fashion statements are still being made. I go to a high school with 3500 people and on any given day there is always someone decked out in 80s gear. (not me of course, even though those side ponytails sure are fun). Just thought I'd let you all know that if you wanted it to leave it'll prolly come back if you want it back, its here. (if that made any sense)

damn, she's cool.
