Hi-
Okay! I went to the Flea Market today, for the first time, my Mother and I. It was VERY exciting as thoughs of you know, who have gone in previous years and this one! There is just soo much to look at let alone decide what you want to buy. I found after walking up and down several times, you need to just look at everything first, check stuff out, then go around again and see what you then want to purchase. Anyway, I didn't get to wait on line for Bernadette (I chose not too), but I did for about 5 mintues stand on one of those wooden plant box things (some of you will know what I'm talking about) and I was just totally in awe of BP, watching her (hope I don't sound too freaky!LOL!). In any case, however, I purchased (My Mom bought for me...) a signed photo of Steven Weber in The Producers...it's him on stage with the chorus girls...! Also, I purchased another photograph, of Linda Lavin, Tony Roberts, Michele Lee, Anil Kumar, and Shirl Burnheim (didn't want to leave any names out...hehe)in"...Allergist's Wife" (it is not autographed, but I love it though (I also have the poster of the show signed, with the same cast...). When I saw the show, it was when Valerie Harper was in the cast.......excellent!!! Can't say it enough.....all of them were wonderful! To get back on topic (technically) I also bought two playbills, The King and I (1977) and Bye Bye Birdie (Encores!, with Tommy Tune...). Next, and I went back and forth (not THAT much, etc.) with this next item. It is a very large, horizontally "angled" photograph of Mathew Broderick and Ron Carroll, performing in "How to Succeed..."...just love it, not sure where to hang it though, maybe even frame it...hmm? Anyway, that is basically my time at the Flea Market, it was a great day in the city, with my Mom (thanks Mom...)
Tell me about yours......
Have a great day!

I woke up not feeling well, and plus my father was in town, so... I got there late. About 3:30pm, I want to say.

But I met up with some folks, and we went gallavanting around to the tables. I think we must have stopped everywhere at least twice. There were posters, playbills, costume pieces, tony awards memorabilia, opening night memorabilia, photo stills, homemade items made by cast members, much of it signed. I saw some really interesting items (I was thinking about purchasing the Tony Awards bag, because the price wasn't bad and I can always use a big black canvas bag anyway) but I decided that, no, I didn't really want it that much. To be honest, the only piece of memorabilia I saw that I REALLY wanted was a shirt at the GYPSY booth. It was a jersey from the Broadway Softball league (all the plays and musicals participate every year) and it was from Annie Get Your Gun. There was a number (10)on the back, and it was signed by Bernadette. I LOVE baseball jerseys and I LOVE theatre, and so... yeah. But I didn't have the cash on me. Besides, I still want to donate to Broadway Barks, and I can't do both. So no memorabilia for me.

While I was there I caught glimpses of people. Bebe Newirth (who apparently came back after her hour ended to sign more stuff,) on her way out -- again, Sutton Foster -- who helped out with the auction, the new gal from HAIRSPRAY (I believe she's on ONE LIFE TO LIVE?) at the HAIRSPRAY table goofing off with some friends, Jenna Gavigan (from GYPSY; she was selling stuff at the table) Kate Reinders (sort of showed up to talk to friends,) Bernadette's assistant -- Patty -- who worked the GYPSY table (all day I think,) some of the GYPSY kids, and the gal who plays Bianca on ALL MY CHILDREN. I think Bianca (I have no idea what her real name is) had a celeb table time, but mostly I saw her walking in the street talking to random people.

I missed Bernadette (who was at the celeb table in the earlier afternoon) and Louise Pitre (from Mamma Mia) who apparently worked her own booth and took pictures with people there. (They had Mamma Mia disco-suited cardboard cutouts; the pictures of people with them are fab-u-lous!)

Plus, there were other things; lots of drag queens walking around in outfits *I* could never pull off, theatre-folks who are (unbelievably) more obsessed than I or most of the people who post here, and Broadway music playing from the speakers.

There was also an auction for...well.. rich people (like I have 2,300 dollars to spend on ANYTHING) and some of the items were like this:

The "Foster" Package:

2 passes to Thoroughly Modern Millie, 2 passes to Little Shop of Horrors, backstage access to both shows, and dinner afterwards (one of the performances) at Black Angus Steakhouse with both Sutton and Hunter Foster.

There was also an auction item for Gypsy (with backstage access included) but I don't know the exact item. I'd have to look it up.

All in all, a fun time. And my first time going. Plus, I had really good company.

Regis: And look at all this hair. My God. That's a lot of hair. Look at this. How does hair get this way?
Bernadette: Um.. it sort of grew out of my head like this.

Did anyone get any pictures from this event or know of any that are online?

Yeah, I just got back (Train broke down 10 minutes away from home and I had to sit there for 45 mins ) But anyway, I've never been to the Broadway Flea Market and I have to say it's amazing. There are so many tables with about everything broadway related. The celebrity tables were crazy! There were soo many people on line for both the autographs and the photos. I got there sort of early and managed to get autographs from Louise Pitre, Delta Burke, Harvey, Bebe, Bernadette, Joel Grey, Hunter Foster, Audra McDonald, and a ton of others but I just can't read the signatures (Have to study them later to figure it out). I also got my picture with Joel, Harvey, Bernadette, and Bebe (I'm scanning one of the polaroids to Kevin). I was sooo excited for all of them especially Joel lol. I felt kinda weird though, because I was taller than him so I had to bend my knees a little lol. I also met a ton of people from this board: UCFguardgirl, BP Broadway Diva, MolEliz, and other Bernadette fans on line. Everyone was so excited by everything there and I had no idea what to buy. The Gypsy table had the cutest things made by the kids in the show. Mostly picture frames decorated with feathers and sequins but they also had crocheted (sp?) scarves and a purse. I bought a headband made from the fabric from Bernadette's dress in Rose's Turn made by Heather Tepe (I think). It's adorable . They also had old playbills, programs, and posters. They did have that purplish pink poster that everyone talked about before but I didn't have enough money to buy it. I did buy the playbill from the first Broadway Barks ever and comparing it to this year's playbill, the entire event has grown tremendously which is fantastic. I'm so glad I went to this and I think it's great how so many people turned out to support BCEFA. I'm going every year from now on.

I had a great time hanging out with a lot of friends. I did a lot of browsing before actually buying anything. The one thing I buy every year is the Christmas CD from the pervious year. It's only $5 to buy it a year later, compared to $20 to buy it the year it comes out.

I saw Louise Pitre at her booth taking the pictures. Some of my friends went and took the picture in the cutout with her. She is one of the nicest people in show business.

Rosie O'Donnell was at her table, which a lot of people didn't realize at first. She was sort of in a hidden corner; but she was signing things and taking pictures with people. She was really very nice, contrary to what I had heard about her.

I never go to the Celebrity Table because I don't like to stand on lines that long...especially when I can be shopping.

They had a table with these men dressed up as the women of the Golden Girls. They were selling cheese cake and cd's. lol

All in all I didn't buy that much. I got a Gypsy CD promotional poster signed by Bernadette (though I bought it at another table other than the Gypsy Table and got it for much less money).
I bought a photo of Ana Gastyer from SNL that was signed.
I bought the 2002 Christmas cd.
And I got a signed photo of Rosie O'Donnell and Barbra Streisand. Well, Rosie signed it. lol Barbra wasn't there.

Veanne Cox was also there (she played one of Bernadette's daughters in Cinderella). I wasn't even sure if it was her at first, but two different people assured me it was. We saw her at the Gypsy Table.

I'm just glad we had such a beautiful day for it.

Wow- I missed a lot!! I didn't know Rosie was there- I saw someone with a shirt autographed by her, and it crossed my mind, but I figured it must have been signed at an earlier time. I didn't notice her when I walked by their booth.
It was a really fun day though! It's so fun to see so many Broadway performers and so much memorbilia in one place!
And I agree with Christine- Louise Pitre is one of the nicest people! I just wish I had gotten to take my picture with Bebe Neuwirth By the time it was my turn, they had rotated the picture person. Oh, well!
It was definitely fun though-and it was nice meeting those of you I had never met before.

Hey, I had the best time ever at the flea market! I saw so excited to meet Megan from the board. There were so many people there. I didn't realize how big of an event it was! So I got my picture taken with Bernadette twice, Louise Pitre, Harvey, Joel Grey, and Eileen Fulton from As the world turns for my grandma lol. My little sister thought it was so cool to see the guy the voice of the cat from stuart little (Nathan Lane lol) and the guy from Mrs. Doubtfire (Harvey). She also liked seeing Bernadette but I didn't let her come up with me for that lol. Bernadette was talking to me for a few minutes which I was surprised about and then my hair got stuck on her jacket and she was fixing my hair! So I'm thinking in my head omg Bernadette Peters is playing with my hair! It was awesome! I also jumped over some plant in box that was digging into my leg and I thought the security guard was gonna make me leave. The first person to get a picture with Bernadette was this guy with a $100 bill and they brought him forward and Bernadette gave him a kiss. Then i went! She remembered who my drama teacher was from Dames at Sea also. All in all it was one of the best days of my life! I can't wait til next year! I apologize if my entire post sounds like I'm rambling I'm just excited!

Yay! I remember how excited Megan was about that pic! I'm so glad that it's up on the boards.

How neat that you had a nice convo with Bernadette, Danielle. It sounds like you had the perfect day! Good for you!

I had a great time, too. Just walking around, knowing I was there because I lived in NY, and I could do these things now just because I FELT like it... that made the day a hell of a lot of fun. Plus, Christine (who is the best, ever!) got her pictures developed, and the one of me with Louise made my day. I love Louise!!

Danielle, that's so funny that she started playing with your hair to fix it. lol What did you 2 talk about while you were there?

OK, so I was just looking through the Flea Market pictures on Broadway.com, and the one of David Burtka holding the signed Gypsy poster is the EXACT poster that I bought. It was the only signed one at the Broadway.com table, and that's where I got mine.

lol How cool! My poster is famous. hahaha

LOL, Christine Also, the Eiden Regal (sp?) pic on Broadway.com...that was at the same time when you bought the poster we were standing right there when he was taking the pics. The guy even bumped his bum on the table trying to back up enough to get the pics it was amusing.

AHH!! I remember that. Bianca-from-all-my-children, right? Yeah, I was standing there with Christine and we were perusing the posters when he took the pictures. Bianca (HOW do you spell her real name?) and the gigantic movie poster from Les Mis. She made him take a few more because she said she was standing wrong in the first one and it looked like, "Les Mis the poster with a disembodied head." She hung out by that table for a LOOOOONNNGGG time. How funny.
