Last night I was drifting off to sleep listening to an oldies radio station. And all of a sudden I hear Johnny Mathis singing Small World. It took me a second to convince myself I was truly hearing it. They changed a few of the lyrics so it made better sense. I found it kind of comical and well eventually, rather frightening. 
So glad I was able to listen to John and Bernadette singing it this morning so I could erase my memory of last night.

Heh. Johnny's version of "Small World" was on the charts in the summer of 1959. I remember it!

Here's something else frightening: A year or so back (before the revival of Gypsy had even begun rehearsals or been cast) I was trying to download songs from the Bette Midler version of Gypsy (which is the one I've seen.) And I clicked on "Let Me Entertain You," and it ended up being a pseudo-rock take on the song, sung by some sort of hard-rock/alternative band. BIZ-ZARE, I tell you.
