| posted: 8/19/2003 at 10:16:58 AM ET I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but the CD itself is pretty cool. It is Bernadette in "the pose" but it is actually a silhouette of Bernadette. Very cool. There are several pictures from the production. Well I guess I'll get listening.

I GOT IT!!
I'm gonna wait 'til I get home from work and play it on my good stereo and have a glass of wine and just listen.
(I'd love to get that first photo -- Rose's Turn with "Rose" in lights all round -- in color. That's one I'd not seen before.)
Oh, it's a happy day!!

From: Fla | posted: 8/19/2003 at 6:01:20 PM ET It only took me three tries, but I got it! Best Buy was sold out, Target didn't have it, and finally I got it at Specs, a local music store, for only $14.99. Anyway, it's wonderful! I've been listening to it all day and now I am even more excited to see the show Saturday!

From Internet Network: 134.126.4.x | posted: 8/19/2003 at 8:57:14 PM ET Me again. I did wait until I got home from work, made dinner, fed the critters, etc., then poured my glass of wine and put the CD on the stereo and followed the lyric in the book all the way through.
I am awestruck.
I love that they have included so much of the dialogue. It really puts you into the scene. I laughed out loud remembering the "Gimmick" number when that played. The whole cast did a fabulous job; everyone, top notch.
But (and there is always a but)… but Bernadette. There just aren't the words. Every cut is wonderous… But,
"Rose's Turn" is awesome. I was crying. She so nailed it. Just like on the condensed Tonys performance. Bernadette flat NAILED it. I am relieved, and grateful, and dumfounded and dazzled, and happy. And I cannot wait to get back to NYC and see it again. And again. And again.

Anonymous, I know EXACTLY how you feel (without the wine lol). I could just sit there, and listen to the cd over and over again. And sit in the theatre, and watch it over and over again. Bernadette just makes the show magical, and I never thought that the score to GYPSY was so good. Shows how much I know about Broadway, huh?
When Bernadette sings any song on that cast recording (haha I remembered!), it gives me chills! She is the only performer who does that to me, but like anyone has to question it!
When I first heard Rose's Turn, it was a little slow for me (I've memorized the Tony's performance). But I love it now! She does it perfectly, and it amazes me how she does that. The talent packed into that little 5'2 body which I tower over by 5 inches amazes me. I'm simply blown away by it...

From: New York City | posted: 8/19/2003 at 9:12:06 PM ET I got it at the signing (500 copies in 2 hours?? seriously??) but have only listened to the first act so far. My resolve has been -- since I now commute into the city -- that I will hold off wearing my copy out at home and will instead listen to it during my commute...
But my resolve is wearing thin. So far, everything in the first act is incredible. I love how PASSIONATE Bernadette is on the CD, not just singing to be technically perfect (for the recording) but singing it like she would sing it in the show. Gorgeous. Also, John Dossett has a beautiful bass (is he a bass or an alto?)and Tammy Blanchard has really grown into the role of Louise. Her "Little Lamb" is very sweet and heart-broken and touching. I think she hits just the right notes there. Tentative, sad, wistful, longing... very nice.
Haven't gotten to Rose's Turn yet, so I'll have to get back to you. (The resolve is flaking to a dangerous degree... LOL)

Regis: And look at all this hair. My God. That's a lot of hair. Look at this. How does hair get this way?
Bernadette: Um.. it sort of grew out of my head like this.

I was driving, crying, and reliving the show and the night I met her in my head. It's incredible. Amanda and I have decided to do our final (an IE *Individual Event*) for Musical Theatre from Gypsy...probably "If Mama Was Married"

| posted: 8/19/2003 at 10:04:18 PM ET Men aren't altos. They are tenors, baritones or basses. I would probably clasify John Dossett as a baritone. Of course there are different categories of each too. But altos are women.

| posted: 8/20/2003 at 2:34:37 PM ET I bought it at the signing yesterday and I listened to it in the car on the way home from Manhattan. It was so funny because from start to finsh (without hitting repeats) is exactly how long it took me to get home.
I'm listening to it now for the third time. "Rose's Turn" is my favorite recording on there; and I love that they have that last dialogue scene with Rose and Gypsy.
I wonder why they left the ending of "Broadway" (the song that Dainty June and the Farmboys sing) out?
The entire cast sounds so great. Just listening to it makes me want to see it again.
*Listening to "You Gotta Get a Gimmick" as I post this.
