From Internet Network: 68.33.148.x | posted: 8/14/2003 at 7:53:36 PM ET I was in NY yesterday (from Maryland) to see Gypsy and loved every minute of it! I have to say though I am glad that I was there yesterday and not today. As someone who skirted the Chicago Blackout of a few years agoby one day as well, I think my days of dodging blackouts by one day are numbered. From what I see on TV though, all of the New Yorkers are smiling as they walk home....keep the spirits up!!! We are thinking of you!

From: New York City | posted: 8/14/2003 at 7:53:51 PM ET Besides all the normal reasons a blackout sucks, this is especially awful for Broadway because they've taken big economic hits this year and last. *sigh* The theatres are going to lose a great deal of money.

Regis: And look at all this hair. My God. That's a lot of hair. Look at this. How does hair get this way?
Bernadette: Um.. it sort of grew out of my head like this.

From: Long Island, New York & Boston, | posted: 8/14/2003 at 8:21:22 PM ET This whole blackout scared the crap out of me for a couple of minutes. I didn't know what was going on! I'm just glad everything is alright and that New Yorkers are working together and are taking this very well. I live on Long Island and we didn't have power either for around 2 hours, but mine is back now. I'm watching TV and shots of NYC. It's very strange not seeing the city lights on...

| posted: 8/14/2003 at 10:15:55 PM ET I hope everyone that is being affected by this is okay. I was lucky and only lost power for about 10 mins in NJ. I wonder if Bernadette and everyone from the cast were at the theatre when it happened and if they are stuck their. Not only them but all the casts and crews of the Broadway shows in the city if they are all in their theatres.

| posted: 8/15/2003 at 6:01:12 PM ET I might be repeating whatever was in that link, but sorry...I don't usually read the links posted here unless they are Broadway related.
Anyway, it wasn't just NY,NJ, and Long Island. It was the entire Eastern Seaboard, including parts of Canada; and I know for a fact that Texas went out (because my Boss was on the phone with someone in Texas and their electricity started going before ours did). I got scared because I knew the President of the United States was in Texas. I was waiting for someone to confirm that we were being attacked. Especially since they started reporting that oil refineries were going on fire. The only thing that kept me sane was the fact that Washington D.C. still hd power.
Oddly enough though, LOL the second thing I thought of was what Broadway was gonna do. The first thing I thought was we might be in big trouble...war wise.
I know it's very likely to get blackouts when it's really hot and people all have AC running and fans on, etc. But it seemed much too coincidental that so manystates lost power at once.

From: MN | posted: 8/15/2003 at 8:18:17 PM ET I'm watching Dateline right now, and they mentioned Broadway during the blackout. They said: "A cast member from the hit show 'Gypsy' was outside giving it for free" and then they showed a woman singing "everything's comin' up roses!" but i think it might have been from Roses' turn i'm not sure.
Just randon there!
Take care,
