Registered: 6/11/2002 | posted: 6/20/2002 at 11:00:54 PM ET Okay, I am REALLY taking a risk here but I want EVERYONE'S opinion:
I am seeing Bernadette on July 2nd and I wanted to ask her a VERY delicate question. I don't want her to take it the wrong way but it's something that people are CONSTANTLY talking about. Here's how I would phrase the question:
(In a VERY calm tone) "I just wanted to say that you sounded great tonight! I really enjoyed the show! I have a question, though, and I hope you don't mind my asking, but your fans and myself are getting a little concerned about your voice. It seems like it's changed in the past couple of years and I know everyone would want to know if you're doing okay or not."
Now I think that's a very delicate way of asking Bernadette the question that is one everyone's mind. However, I could be TOTALLY out of line, so I'd like your opinions. The Bernadette quesion: good idea or bad idea?
I am truly a happier person because of Bernadette Peters

From Internet Network: 205.188.197.x | posted: 6/20/2002 at 11:20:08 PM ET I would find it very rude if someone asked me that. Its her business not her fans and I dont think you should involve others in this by saying "your fans want to know". If you truley are a fan of hers you woudnt say something like that to her face....

Besides, that's just a personal opinion, not a universal impression. I saw her in concert last October and emphatically do not share your view. However even if I did feel that way about a singer I would never say such a thing. It would be hurtful and unnecessary. Please think seriously about anything you might say. Well, that's my 2 cents worth.

Registered: 6/11/2002 | posted: 6/21/2002 at 4:05:14 PM ET I might have come across like I wasn't too fond of Bernadette. On the contrary. My screen name isn't Bernadette-Fanatic for nothing! ;-) I'm absolutely CRAZY about her!
I merely was worried about her present vocal condition. I love her SO much and the thought of her voice not being what it used to be is scary for me. I thought if I asked her if her voice had been okay lately, I guess I was hoping for her to say that she had a cold or whatnot and that it would be back 100% in no time.
I will, however, take everyone's advice and NOT mention this to her when (Actually, I should say "if") I meet her. By the advice from the people on the Broadway.com message boards, I'll comment on her beautiful skin instead! :-)
Have a great day everyone!
