It was amazing and I'm so obsessed! lol But honestly... I think that is one of her best performances! And all of those people who said she can't even sing loud were put to shame when she belted out "Everything's coming up rose! Everything's coming up roses! Everything's coming up roses, this time for me!" Anyways... I just thought I'd share my excitement!

And the first few times I watch the part at the end when she sings "Everything's coming up rose", I got chills. I love that part.
Take care,

It's so sweet because she looks around like she wants to jump up and give him a Standing Ovation, but is afraid she might be the only one...until everyone else does it. Then I rewind and watch Rose's Turn again. lol

Registered: 5/13/2003 | posted: 6/13/2003 at 7:55:18 AM ET My favorite parts of her performance that make me want to watch again and again is
1. the line "hold your hats and halleluia momma's gonna show it to ya!" I love that line!
2. And secondly how she delivers the line "And where would you be Miss Gypsy Rose Lee!"
Oh and i love when she starts to sing "everything's coming up rose" how she throws her head back and her hands up. Makes you want to belt it out with her!
Question: Does she always make those two last noises at the end of the song when she crosses her arms? I was sitting in the balcony when i saw it at the Shubert so maybe i missed it.

| posted: 6/13/2003 at 1:35:56 PM ET Actually I think she ran out of breath and had to end the note early so she added more drama on to it and that included the "noises" she made. Kind of a frustrated cry out. I noticed one other spot where she ended a little earlier than the music. Whether it was nerves (live TV in front of 6 million people will do that even to total pros like Bernadette) or maybe she just miscalculated her breath which can also happen from time to time. I have never noticed her running short before when she is in the show and probably under somewhat less stressful surroundings. So she realized she wasn't going to end with the music and stopped (instead of singing the end of the note without breath which would have been bad) and just added more acting to MORE than make up for it. Just my take on it and no insult meant to her. It's a true professional who can recognize in the middle of a performance that something isn't going to happen the way she necessarily wants it to and can switch gears and fix it with something else.

She's been singing the song pretty much the same way for months now, and then she had to go and change the tempo of the song to fit the appropriate time slot for the Tony's. Though I'm sure she's used to having to change arrangments of songs at the last minute, she may have gotten caught up in the moment and realized it wasn't the same as in the show. Thank God she can act AND sing. lol Very few people can pull that off.

I would have liked to see Bernadette take the bows at the end like she does in the show, but people might have gotten the wong idea and thought that it was Bernadette bowing instead of Rose. LOL
