So Gypsy was really sold out tonight?! (That's a first that SRO sold out, isn't it?) Well there you have it...Ticket sales are booming and the audiences can't stop cheering for Bernadette. That just proves that you don't need awards to be successful. Even though she had only a few minutes to showcase her talent and the show, Bernadette won the hearts of theatre-goers all over with her breathtaking performance! It is said that people vote by how they spend their dollars; sold-out performances say that the people are voting for Bernadette and for Gypsy. I'm so glad to hear that the show is just thriving now!!
As more people go to see Gypsy, Bernadette's performance will just become increasingly legendary...and hopefully the show will be sold out for months to come!

| posted: 6/10/2003 at 10:58:39 AM ET I will try to post them later. I'm trying to deal with ATC now. Not only was my account suspended for defending myself but the person who insulted me by telling me "You will die alone" is still able to post. I am so angry I can't think of anything else. I'm hoping the administrator just overeacted and will reinstate my account.

I was hoping someone would have gone to Gypsy last night and your post was great. Sorry you're having problems with ATC. I had actually saved your post since I like to read offline sometimes. If you don't have it and want me to paste it here, I'd be happy to.

Black Monday? - I don't think so
Posted by moljul on June 09, 2003 at 23:37:34:
What happens to a show that is attacked the moment the star is cast, is thought to be a failure before it even goes into rehearsal, receives so much gossipy criticism, has to open cold on a Broadway stage and endure intense scrutiny throughout its rocky preview period, endures an extended illness of its leading lady, has an egotistical idiot who fancies himself a newpaper man making it his goal in life to take it down and attacks its star with false accusations, and loses every award including all four Tony nominations? Well you would think its days are numbered and it will go down in history as a failure. Not at all. Instead the day after losing the most prestigious award in Broadwy theater, it sells out on a Monday night, fills all of its standing room only tickets, has to stop the show so the entrance applause for its star can die down so the show can continue, every song and every cast member is picture perfect landing every joke, every dramatic moment, it star is stellar, is in fabulous voice, big and loud but full of emotions and can hold out every single long note and not only gets a standing ovation after her 11 o'clock number as well as an immediate standing "O" before she even makes it on to the stage for her curtain call.
Yes I attended Gypsy tonight. Bernadette doesn't need Michael Reidel to like her or even a Tony. The theater was full of the poeple who count and they let her know tonight that SHE IS THE BEST LEAD ACTRESS IN A MUSICAL THIS SEASON.

It is SO exciting to see the ticket sales soaring, and performances starting to fill up. But those who do not yet have seats, DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED--plenty of great seats remain available through the summer, so order them now!
