Here's a little memory from when I was in Gypsy several years ago :
I was a Hollywood Blonde in a professional production of Gypsy. Our Rose was incredible! Rose's Turn was my favorite part, because the actress playing Rose belted out that song with so much emotion! Whenever it came time for that number, I would sneak backstage and climb up on one of the set pieces to watch the scene. Every night I got chills, and I actually felt the music in me. I would listen to her belt out that song and watch all the Rose signs light up. I would be in absolute awe the whole time, getting goose bumps and wishing that one day I would be able to sing and act like that. And when I heard the end "Everything's coming up Rose...everything's coming up roses" I would absolutely tremble and mouth the words, pretending to be a Broadway star. And then I would stay until the end of the scene so I could hear the last line.."And her daughter, GYPSY!" and listen to the ending music just before bows. I always felt that the last line ties the whole show together, moving the audience. It was wonderful. I feel so blessed to be able to experience this all again, on Broadway with my idol, Bernadette Peters, as Rose. It will be the experience of a lifetime. I can't wait!
