I highly recommend watching the video highlights of the Drama Desk from 1999-2002. Bernadette hosted once (1999 I believe) and they have a couple of funny clips of her at that ceremony. I especially like her comments while reading the night's sponsors. Her jokes about critics seem particularly meaningful considering what she and Gypsy have gone through. I don't think it was 1999 because she was nominated for a Drama Desk Award that year for Annie Get Your Gun. Wasn't that the same year they had the cast members of Forbidden Broadway come out every once in a while and imitate a well-known Broadway star

She did host the year she was nominated so I guess that would be 1999. I remember trying to listen on NY1 or something and I remember her making that statement about the sponsors. I think my connection got lost so I don't remember hearing what she said in her acceptance speech.

yeah, she did host the same year she was nominated. But of course Chita was nominated this year and hosted so apparently the Drama Desk does that a lot.

OHHH, ok. LOL I think I have that one on tape. I wish they would still show them on TV (esecially this year's)

Now we shall never see it.

I think I have at least highlights on tape for that year too. I heard that the Drama Desk just had some financial problems this year and weren't able to afford the telecast but they have already secured it for next year.

And I just found out that Theatermania has at least the broadcast highlights if not the entire thing on their website. I'm so excited as I only got to listen to it so I'm going to check that out right now.
