I missed the Ebay listing so I don't know if it's the same thing, but I have a book of The Jerk. It's a small, mass-market paperback published by Warner Books in 1979 with a cover price of $2.25. It's not the screenplay, it's just a sort of jokey retelling of the plot. There's not much text, but a lot of photos, mostly stills from the movie but also some stuff that's not actually in the film. In the introduction by Carl Gottlieb, one of the script's co-writers, it's stated that they took the liberty of including pictures that aren't in the film. It's unclear whether these were scenes that were filmed and then edited out of the final cut, or whether they were just staged for the book. I would say the book is sort of a novelty item that was probably sold in supermarkets and drugstores as a movie tie-in.
