| posted: 5/8/2003 at 6:58:21 PM ET I was just wondering who everyone thinks is going to get nominated for the tony's this year. I believe they are going to be announced on Monday. I really hope Bernadette is nominated and from her being sick that they do not hold that against her.

I, too, hope she's not overlooked because of absence. Regardless, I hope she gets well soon, I'm worried!

| posted: 5/8/2003 at 11:15:39 PM ET I thought one or 2 ladies from "Nine" might get nominated, but I haven't heard much buzz about their performances....well, with the exception of Jane Krakowski (maybe she'll get a best supporting actress nomination). Chita Rivera may get a nod just for seniority purposes. I have a feeling the main competition for Bernadette will be Marissa.
Antonio Banderas will probably be nominated for "Nine", along with Brian Stokes Mitchell for "Man of La Mancha" and Harvey Firestein from "Hairspray."
I haven't seen "La Boheme", but I've heard good things about it.
I have a feeling "Hairspray" will win best musical, "Gypsy" will win best revival of a musical." I really want Bernadette to win Best Actress, but I think it's going to be a very tight race between her and Marissa.
I thought "Hollywood Arms" was a great play, and Linda Lavin did an amazing job, but I don't know if the Tony people even considered it b/c it had such a short run. Linda deserves best actress in a play though.

| posted: 5/8/2003 at 11:41:16 PM ET Actually the Tony committee ruled that all the women in Nine are supporting roles so they won't be in competition with Bernadette. Marissa from Hairspray will be her major competition.

| posted: 5/8/2003 at 11:50:19 PM ET ACTUALLY, I never once (in my post above) said that any of the women from "Nine" would be in Bernadette's category. I said Jane might get a supporting role nomination, and Chita might get a nomination as well; I didn't say in Bernadette's category.

| posted: 5/9/2003 at 12:26:10 AM ET I'm sorry but I read it that you were talking about all the women as potential competition for Bernadette because of your last statement. And since there was some talk a while ago about how the women in Nine would be nominated I thought some people here (I wasn't necessarily aiming my comments at you) might be interested that it was officially ruled they were supporting. Try not to take things so personally.

Registered: 3/10/2001 | posted: 5/9/2003 at 5:34:08 PM ET Today is actually the cut off date for the nominations. So if any of the voters haven't seen Bernadette in the show yet this is their last chance. The nominations will be announced Monday at 8:30am @ Sardi's

Also, I don't think any of the members should be allowed to vote at all, unless they have seen every show; or, at least every show in a particular category. Like if they haven't seen every play, they should be exempt from voting for categories involving the plays.
