| posted: 5/3/2003 at 10:01:31 PM ET Dennis Cunningham gave a great review on "On Stage!"
He called Bernadette, "Blissfully brilliant." And he said that all concern about the show and it's leading lady not being able to surpass comparisons to past performances should stop.
They showed some terrific clips from the show; including some great little "Gypsy Montages" they put together. It was so great to turn on my television and hear (and see) Bernadette singing "Everything's Coming Up Roses", "Rose's Turn", and "Together, Wherever, We Go"...even if it was just a few seconds of each. They also gave us a litte taste of "If Mama Was Married."
They showed the 3 strippers, but were unfourtunately narrating over the singing at that point...too bad because that is such a great number.
They didn't show Tulsa's dance scene, which they really should have because he is excellent!
They actually dedicated much of the show (which is a Broadway-News show) to Gypsy...giving it a lot more screen time than most shows get.

| posted: 5/4/2003 at 12:12:21 AM ET I posted it in another thread that the review from NY1 is online in video version so you can see all the footage from the show - for those of you who haven't seen it and/or do not live in the NYC area to get NY1.

| posted: 5/4/2003 at 1:46:01 PM ET Oh, sorry lol I saw that thread, but I didn't really acknowledge it because you just said NY1. Had you been discussing "On Stage", I would have thought you would have refferenced the show appropriately.
I didn't even click on the link, so I didn't realize that the review had been typed up and posted on the website.
Still, for those that do get NY1, "On Stage" will re-air tonight at 7:30pm. You will be able to see the clips much more vividly than on a computer (especially if you have a computer like mine that makes the video and audio clips somewhat slow and unclear).

| posted: 5/4/2003 at 1:57:16 PM ET Well it is listed under NY1 but it is essentially the same review as On Stage and the same video footage of the show. Just wanted to remind those out of the NYC area that they could actually view it on their computer.

| posted: 5/4/2003 at 10:03:56 PM ET Danielle, I"m assuming by your post that you get NY1. If so, Onstage will be on tomorrow night (Monday). I think it is 9:30 but you can check. I would recommend recording it because they show a little bit of other footage as well as a brief interview with Bernadette at the party after the opening.

| posted: 5/5/2003 at 12:12:53 AM ET She was just glowing during her interview. I was so happy that she was so happy, and that the opening went so well.
That camera person stunk though because they clearly didn't white-balance their camera (which prevents the people on screen from appearing yellow). Bernadette looked discolored, as did her beautiful white dress
