Hi all, I'm so glad I found this site! I first saw Bernadette Peters way back when she appeared on The Carol Burnette Show. I remember thinking "what a kewpie-doll looking girl" - of course she still is cute an din her 50s as I am. Anyway, I didn't pay her much attention until she sang! Goodness. Carol Burnette was blown away.
I really haven't followed her career, and I do remember when she was involved for a long time with Steve Martin. Then I heard he abruptly broke it off - or so I heard/read - and married Victoria Tennant.
So a few years ago I heard an interview with her husband on Howard Stern, and Howard was talking about how hot she is. Her husband Michael told the interesting story about how they met >>they lived in same apt bldg in NYC and he knew who she was, but didn't really know her. Anyway, one night he was going to a charity function by himself and she was standing in the lobby waiting on her date to pick her up to go out. Well, her date was late and she was WICKED PISSED, LOL! So Michael (who eventually became her husband) went to her and said "Come on, let's go" and the rest is history. BT does anyone have a pic of him?
When I hear her sing "I Got Lost in His Arms" from Annie Get your Gun it gives me chills!!! I find it hard to listen to her without getting all teared up - so much emotion in her singing.

Thanks, Michael! After I posted I saw that link and looked at the pics. Good looking guy - better looking that Steve Martin IMO.
Oh - I'm not an Ally watcher, but I'm familiar with what the show is about. What role did Bernadette play?

I usually don't watch it either. She played someone that one of the guys met, liked, defended. Just your typical adjunct role I'd think. Maybe someone else can be more descriptive.

Bernadette's ep.:
Two of the lawyers went on vaccation in LA, One of them saw Bernadette stitting by a pool crying. He finds out that her husband is suing her for divorce and since she has had an affair, she will get almost nothing. The prenup stated that she couldn't have an affair, although he could. Anyway, he hired someone to seduce her so that he could then sue for divorce and not have to pay. So John, the lawyer, says 'this is ridiculous, i can get you way more money'. It isn't as greedy as it sounds. Anyway, John represents her and it doesn't go to court but she ends up getting three million dollars. They also have a romantic dinner and spend time together. Then John has to go back to Boston and it's all very sad.
Ep. #2: Bernadette suddenly shows up in Boston because she missed John and wants to know if he'll give it a shot 'life is too short', she says. They goout but John is very nervous. Then Richard (the other lawyer) steps in and says 'if you don't want her i'll take her'. John doesnot agree with this but Richard goes ahead anyway. He meets her in the bar and says all the wrong things and when John shows up she punches him (LOL). Anyway John goes to her hotel while she's packing and explains himself. He just broke up with his girlfriend and he really is not ready. She understands and they have their romantic goodbye scene and kissand she drives off.
*takes a deep breath*

Does anyone know how Berndette keeps in such terrific shape? I mean, people can say what they want about clebs and plastic surgery, but ya gotta have something to work with. I doubt she has had any surgery and she is 53!!!
I've spent a lot of time on Bernadette this weekend and enjoyed evry minute. It's so nice to have a website like this where we don't have to put up with rude snide comments (knock on wood) and we're not made to feel like losers or wierdoes simply because we admire a celebrity. I was in a chat room once and they were talking about Broadway stars. I said something about Bernadette and those "broadway buffs" didn't even know who she is. Then they slammed ME and called me - oh never mind. Have a nice week everyone.

I don't think you have to worry about rude comments. If they appear I'll get them off and try to make sure the person can't do it again. I have no tolerance for childish taunting on my board.
I think BP works out a lot. I remember her talking about that on Regis. She also seems to like herbal teas.

Re :how she keeps in shape. She has said that she exercises regularly, some aerobics, some weights, and stretching. This last (stretching) is recently "Gyrotonics".
