The time schedule for the appearance of Bernadette at this event seems so close to both her performances-why don't they schedule it on a Monday when she has a day off?

Well actually with the Gypsy schedule, Sunday is her day off, not Monday. The event is meant to bring out lots of Broadway folks, not just Bernadette. Having it on a scheduled day off for most people would probably bring less Broadway celebrities. Also, the idea is to get a lot of the public there to learn about adopting animals so there are going to get more general public there on Saturdays.
