Cute pics! Thanks...An odd question just popped into my head-are the children limited in how much (hours, I guess) they can rehearse? And what about school? (Tutors?)

Awesome pictures... As far as the kids... I think it's different for every show... Kids on tour have tutors but I don't know what they do on Broadway... They either have tutors... Or they rehearse after school and the cast has to kind of cater to their schedules...

I love the picture of Bernadette with all of the kids!

As far as I know, the children have tutors (especially the leading child actors).

Now I'm just guessing, but I would think they go to school as much as possible (obviously they wouldn't go Wednesday's because they have 2 shows). Perhaps they have special arrangments with their schools

From everything I know they are tutored at the rehearsal studio. The kids in Gypsy are tutored by Muriel (she's in some of those pictures towards the top).I know for the national tour of AGYG the kids had to be at rehearsals pretty much all day( for as long as rehearsals were). A lot of it was "down time" but they still had to be there(they have a child wrangler with them). I can't remember the exact ratio of school vs rehearsal time that is allowed and expected each day.I think its about 2-3 hours of schooling each day...I'll have to recheck. I'm pretty postive the same goes for Broadway. I do know they definitely have tutors--atleast during rehearsals. The kids for Gypsy started rehearsals a few weeks after most of the cast did. I know that Addison was still touring with ANNIE and Heather was still performing in the PEOPLE GARDEN before the kids rehearsals started which was mid-February.( Heather was still performing with the PEOPLE GARDEN even during rehearsals I believe).

When the show opens on Broadway they don't generally have tutors( or atleast one that is provided by the company) because they are only missing one day of school(Wednesday). They are expected to go to school and be at the show. A few shows limit how much stage time children can get each week so they have alternates. Les Miz does this. Many of the kids on Broadway go to PPAS (Professional Performing Arts School) or PCS ( Professional Children's School). Because these schools are pretty much dedicated to the performing arts and therfore have a lot of professional child actors enrolled it accommodates their schedules. So, for instance, if a kid is in a Broadway show at night they can arrive to school a little later the next morning and if they have a Weds matinee then I'm sure their teacher will send them the work they missed. This also includes auditions, voice/acting/dance classes.I know quite a few of these kids are also regulars on Saturday Night Live and various soap operas and even primetime television. Many Broadway kids have private tutors tho or are home schooled. Some also go to public schools which accommodate their schedules.

LOL You answered my next question Cindy
I was gonna ask if they were allowed to go to school a little later in the mornings.
I would think they would be exhausted if they had to stay up for a show & then be in class by 9am the next day.

It's not even like they can leave after their scene is finished (like in Les Miz & Gypsy, the children are only performing in the first act) because they have to be there at the end for curtain calls.
