ok, its a game!!!! I think she'd have been great as Mavis Turner in Stepping Out. Liza minnelli played the part but I swear our bernadette could have done it better!!!

they say bernadette's wonderful..........and she is

A role I believe she was considered for but turned down - Kate Winslet's mother in Titanic.

And I'll probably hear all sorts of flack for this one but Roxie in the film, Chicago. I am not a Renee Zellweger fan and her performance in Chicago didn't change my mind about her. I think Roxie (and Velma for that matter) should be played older. While I would have loved to see BP sing All That Jazz, I think she is better suited for Roxie.

Or I'm sorry, Jenny, are you talking about Stage Roles.

Guys and Dolls-Miss Adelaide (can't you just hear her singing a person can develop a cold....and the costumes she could wear!)

Mame-Vera Charles (not the starring role but one where she can be as outrageous as she wants)

A Little Night Music--Desiree (just to hear her sing "Send in the Clowns" and to have, for once, a seriously glamorous Desiree)

i LOVE this game! and i so agree with everyone so far...lets see... i think she's awsome with comedy, but everyone knows she is so i think i would like to see her do something dramatic with funny parts, instead of the other way around. something like sally and marsha (which i know she's already done, but i'm having a mental block of other plays). i had to get this thought down, i'll post another later!
ciao!

I don't know that I would like Bernadette in the role of Mavis Turner; I think Liza Minnelli does such a great job...I don't think that role would be right for Bernadette (just my opinion).

I think Bernadette would have been great as either lead character in "Thelma and Louise" (I would definitely pair her with Susan Sarrandon though, not Geena Davis).

Also (even though I have not seen the movie in a while) the role of the mother in "Simon Birch." Ashley Judd plays the mother, but I can totally picture Bernadette in the role.

I agree on Thelma and Louise. I like her better with Susan Sarandon but I think I like Bernadette better in Susan Sarandon's part. So I'm not sure if Susan would be as good in Geena Davis' part.

ah! i thought of another one. the graduate! lorraine bracco was great and i didn't see kathleen turner, but i think bernadette would be SO funny in this role eventhough she still looks too young for it.

And there's always the sticking point that she wouldn't do the nude scenes. LOL I was actually not all that thrilled with The Graduate (the play I mean) so I'm glad she didn't do it, nude scenes or not.

I TOTALLY agree with Roxie in the film... She would've been better then that horrid Renee at least... I also liked the Adelaide one too! Now here's my input and I know I'll be shot dead for this... Donna in Mamma Mia... Cause it would be something new for her and I'd like to see that... Or maybe it's because whenever I don't like the actress in a role I always tell myself that Bernadette would've been great as it, no matter what...

i've always wondered how she'd do as evie in 'the mummy.' or the star role of 'haunted honeymoon.' my brain isn't working well tonight or else i'd have a better answer, i'll post again when i think of something though.

Hey Pixy-
The Mummy is one of my favorite movies! I loved Rachel Weisz in the role and Bernadette has never really done an action film before. Not a bad idea.

I wanted to find this old post coz i just thought of one last night.....then i realised it was my post to begin with - how dumb am I?!
Anyhoo....whatcha think of Bernadette playing Charity in the movie sweet charity - I know I absolutely LOVED shirley maclaine doing it but i think Bernadette could have done it too....although she was a bit too young for the part in 1969 when it was made. But I understand there is a revival with Christina Applegate on broadway - Bernadette could soooo play Nicki - don't you think?

She's not really a dancer--especially not that kind of a Fosse dancer. She never was.

Of course neither is Christina Applegate, but that didn't stop the Weisslers from casting her (yes, I'm one of those bashers).

Are you serious? Bernadette in a tiny role supporting Kelly Bundy? And next week, folks, she'll be opening for Andy Williams in Branson.
