| posted: 2/13/2003 at 2:07:28 PM ET I'm a little surprised they're going with a poodle. It's gonna look too much like the sheep LOL Unless it's tan or black.
But he even said that poodles (even small ones) are much heavier than Yorkies! Why wouldn't they just use a yorkie & make work easier for Bernadette!?
I never really liked the song "Little Lamb." If it were up to me, I would have that song cut from the show & avoid using the lamb all together.

Registered: 3/10/2001 | posted: 2/14/2003 at 1:27:20 PM ET Just because Bernadette is tiny in stature doesn't mean she is weak!! She has two dogs that are MUCH bigger than a poodle... granted she doesn't carry them around but you should see them pull her( or anyone else) when they're being walked! I can also see why Sam chose to have a poodle and not a Yorkie...Poodles are a little more "frou frou". I can totally picture Mama Rose with a poodle. Besides, maybe they won't even have her carrying the dog in each scene...maybe they'll let it walk on a leash. And lets not forget-- she had to carry around props for AGYG( a gun) and SITPWG( an umbrella)..they weren't as heavy, but I'm sure she's used to carrying around props for her shows.
I would be upset too if they cut Little Lamb! Besides, I'm sure having a REAL lamb be in the show is going to be adorable!

| posted: 2/14/2003 at 2:01:45 PM ET I think they should use a maltese! LOL Those look more like yorkies, yet have that fru-fru style like poodles.
I don't know; I love all dogs, it's just that poodles are not amongst my top favorites. Either way it will be very cute to see; not to mention the little unplanned things that can happen with live animals. LOL it will be very interesting to see how the cast reacts to things.
By the way, I was not implying that Bernadette was weak in any way when I said they should make her work easier with a lighter dog; believe me, I know she's strong. I just meant why not make it easier if they can. But, like Cindy said, there's a chance they will use a leash for certain scenes.

Registered: 3/10/2001 | posted: 2/14/2003 at 6:48:36 PM ET I forgot to put this in my post above but...Bernadette is also very allergic to dogs and poodles do not shed and generally do not have dry, flaky skin so I'm sure that's a plus too. And as far as carrying it around-- I'm sure they're going to use a Toy Poddle(Teacup Poodle) or a Miniature Poodle. They definately wouldn't have her carry around a Standard Poodle LOL
Its funny because I'm sure all of your Moms carried you around until you were way past the weight of a poodle and you're saying "poor Bernadette" LOL Atleast she's getting paid to carry it around...Moms don't get paid to carry their kids around...

Registered: 3/10/2001 | posted: 2/15/2003 at 11:44:22 AM ET Being that I work with children I had to respond to this. Many people who are not around children forget how big a 3 year old is....most of our 3 year olds do not get carried around often either( by their teachers or parents) because they are so much bigger and because they're older and don't want to be treated like "babies".
And you're right most moms don't carry their babies/kids around for the length of a show..they carry them around longer LOL
Every weekday I am holding babies/kids way more than 2 and 1/2 hours through out the day...yes it hurts your arm after awhile but its not going to kill anyone
Lets face it...if Bernadette had a problem with this they wouldn't have gotten a poodle to be in the show or they wouldn't have gotten a dog at all for the show. She is the one who urged them to get a dog.

Registered: 3/10/2001 | posted: 2/15/2003 at 12:21:30 PM ET I am a Preschool teacher. Currently we have around 100 children enrolled in our center ages 6 wks-5 yrs old. Babies like and need to be held..they need that one-on-one attention. They still need it when they're older too. They're all not going to be happy or in a good mood every day and they want to be held and will cry if you do not pick them up and hold them. Personally, I'd rather pick up a baby and comfort them rather then having them scream and cry. I currently have a class of 1 year olds and they are all about 3x's bigger then a toy poodle.
Oh, and I have to add...one of my dogs is a Jack Russell/Boston Terrier mix and when we got her as a puppy everyone kept telling us that she would not be a lap dog...on the contrary...she insists on always being on someone's lap and she loves being carried around...I'm pretty sure she's bigger then a toy poodle. Toy poodles have all that curly fur so I'm sure many people look at them and think they're bigger than they really are anyways.

| posted: 2/15/2003 at 3:07:01 PM ET OMG! I saw the cutest puppy today! It was a poodle/pomeranian mix. It sort of had hair like a maltese, but much much nicer; and it was sooo friendly and playful. OOO I just wanted to take it home! LOL it belonged to one of the patients at the office for which I work, and her sister had it in the waiting room (which really isn't allowed, but I don't care b/c it was so cute).
Anyway, I was going to mention how they were probably using a poodle because Bernadette is allergic to dogs....but malteses have hair (not fur) also. LOL I'm just kidding. Any dog they use will be adorable.
Hey Kevin, you should have suggested they use George! LOL Surely he doesn't shed, or even bark.
