It was listed on Bernadette's calendar (bernadettepeters.com) that she was at the Library of Congress yesterday, performing at the Burton Awards, which I guess from the looks of it is a private awards event for lawyers and government officials...I think it was possible to get tickets but I bet they were ridiculously expensive. I wonder why it was listed on her calendar amidst her tour dates, if it wasn't a public concert. Oh well. Did anyone actually go, or know anyone who went? What's the story? I'm very curious...

Here is the full description of the Burton Awards at the Library of Congress. (Scroll down to 4/23/2012 entry.) This does not appear to be an "open" event. I do not know any lawyers or Supreme Court Justices or Cabinet officials who might have been in attendance; those folks do not seem, to me, like the type to twitter or take cell phone pictures. There should be photos, etc of the 2012 event on the Burton website, but I don't know when.

Yeah, I saw that description on the Burton Awards website. I thought maybe there was a possibility that one of those people might have a friend or a family member who is a fan who could have attended as well...I don't know. I'm curious to know what songs she sang. I wish she would bring her concert to DC...I would love to see it live. I know she was just here for Follies...but I don't think she's had her concert here. At least not for a long while...

You know, I think you're right-I don't remember an open concert (read: anyone invited) in DC. I know that she did a private concert a few years ago, some charity. And in 2002 she did a private charity concert for Whitman-Walker.

Of course, there was the glorious concert weekend at Strathmore (in Bethesda) in October 2006 and again in April 2009.
