From Internet Network: 216.120.5.x | posted: 2/12/2003 at 12:14:32 PM ET I am going to be in New York during April and am getting tickets for Gypsy. I have never been to the Shubert Theatre. I have the choice of front row left mezz (a little off center), first row right orchestra, or further back in the orchestra all the way to the left. I usually like the mezzanine but was wondering how front row is in this theatre or how seats are at the end of the rows in orchestra? I appreciate any feedback on this. Also, do you think Bernadette will do all the shows in April or will an understudy do some so she can have a day off? Thanks.

I would avoid anything to the extreme right or left. Otherwise the orchestra has generally good site lines. If I had to choose, I would probably choose the front row mezz, slightly off center.

If you are a relatively short person( like myself LOL) then I woulnd't suggest sitting front row mezz...my friend did that once and missed half the show because of the bar there. I would suggest sitting in the orchestra but like MolJul says not to the extreme right or left...the sight lines on both sides are pretty bad. As Hope that helps
As far as front row in the orchestra..I don't think it should be too bad..I would suggest that more than way off to the side anywheer else in the orchestra. I'm pretty positive they took out a few rows for this proiduction tho so I'm not sure exactly how great front row-to the side will be. It shouldn't be that bvad tho.

Thanks also for your reply. There are three of us. My friend and I are 5'6" but my daughter is only 5'2". Most other theaters we've been in, she hasn't had a problem seeing over the bar. All of the orchestra seats left are off to the sides. I think there is mezzanine Row B slight off center. Would that be better than Row A? Thank you all for your help.

If your daughter has trouble seeing over the bar, just request a booster seat. I know 3 adult women that went to see a show last week and had A Mezz seats, and they all got a booster seat and saw everything. LOL they're not just for kids folks!
