Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 8/25/2010 at 4:30:04 PM ET Gee, what took them so long to announce this--we knew a few weeks ago! But, what happened to Maria Friedman??
I'm breathless and very happy, putting a few things on hold so that I can live at the Kennedy Center. (No, not really.)
But, seriously, good for Bernadette, I believe that, in an interview, she said that she would like to play Sally. I hope she somehow can bring her doggys with her.

"Particular mention must be made of Bernadette Peters, who turns up briefly in a sort of sparkly Glinda the Good costume. She's the reluctant muse sent to help Alice with her writing. The muse is dressed like Oz, sounds like Queens and behaves like a bored student adviser." Alice Film Review, The New York Times, December 25, 1990
"I'm one star away from Dolly Parton ... and Raymond Massey is between us. I hope we don't suffocate him." Bernadette Peters receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, April 24, 1987

From: Los Angeles, CA | posted: 8/25/2010 at 6:17:02 PM ET I so wish I lived on the east coast, having to miss her in TWO great roles in TWO Sondheim shows sucks. I'm so glad she's doing more Sondheim though.

I thought he was a great (and unheralded) Herbie and can't wait to see Bernadette and John together again on stage. I'm a bit surprised at the casting of Kim Cattrall - not in a negative way - just never even thought of her as a potential Sally.

Oh that Karen
It was a joke, because recently Patti has mentioned several roles that she wanted (Into the Woods, ALNM) but Bernadette got.

I'm totally confused...is Bernadette playing Sally or Phyllis in "Follies"? I'd perfer she play
Sally as this seems to be a larger role, and I'd love to hear her sing"Losing My Mind" ...my favorite song from the show! Is there any more news about the other characters? John Dosset would be great!
To the loveliest lady of song!
You will keep on giving me joy forever...

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 10/14/2010 at 2:33:15 PM ET Bernadette is playing the role of "Sally Durant Plummer" in the Kennedy Center production of "Follies". The dates are May 7-June 5, 2011. The only other casting that seems definite is Danny Burstein as Buddy. John Dossett and Kim Cattrall will not be in this production.
