| posted: 6/21/2010 at 5:42:02 PM ET Here is a description from the movie's facebook page. Sounds like it could be really intriguing. I think the mental illness factor could provide some good dramatic scenes.
"15 year old Alice (Reyna de Courcy) and her larger-than-life mother, Diane (Bernadette Peters) hold onto each other and their theatrical fantasies in order to survive their gritty reality; a dangerous neighborhood, money troubles, even Diane's mental illness will not pull them down.
But is optimism and their love enough?"
"Particular mention must be made of Bernadette Peters, who turns up briefly in a sort of sparkly Glinda the Good costume. She's the reluctant muse sent to help Alice with her writing. The muse is dressed like Oz, sounds like Queens and behaves like a bored student adviser." Alice Film Review, The New York Times, December 25, 1990
"I'm one star away from Dolly Parton ... and Raymond Massey is between us. I hope we don't suffocate him." Bernadette Peters receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, April 24, 1987

From: Colorado/California | posted: 6/21/2010 at 8:37:48 PM ET Hi! I'm Sam. I just registered officially last night, but I've been lurking on the boards for a while now. I'm nineteen, a junior in college, and majoring in theatre. I discovered Bernadette this past October right at a time when I was going through two extremely traumatic events. Through her art (in whatever medium), I was able to find a way of coping. She brought me joy when I was in such a dark place, and I will always, always love her.
Anyways! Back to the topic. I just have to say that words cannot express how excited I am for this movie! I'm wondering how wide of a release it will be.... According to IMDB, it looks like the director has only done one other movie, and that was in 1999.

From: California | posted: 6/21/2010 at 11:10:06 PM ET Sam I am new to the boards as well! My names Nicole and I am in college as well.
This movie sound like it is going to be a great role for Bernadette,it just sucks that we have to wait till 2011 for it.
And I totally agree with you I hope this isn't an independent release that is almost impossible to find in theaters.

From: Colorado/California | posted: 6/22/2010 at 8:34:13 PM ET Hi Nicole!
And I know. I'm sure that she's wonderful in it. I also hope that it's not super independent, because if it is, there probably won't be a lot of press for it. I'd love to see her promoting it on all of the late night shows and such. And by that time, I'll be in Colorado, so there'll be almost zero chance of me getting to see it in theatres if it's in limited release. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it has a wide release!

From: California | posted: 6/23/2010 at 2:48:35 PM ET Yeah I agree a DVD release would be awesome, so that way if nothing else we will at least be able to see her performance. Although I love seeing movies on the big screen, so I am keeping my fingers crossed as well.

From: North Carolina | posted: 2/28/2012 at 2:02:26 PM ET It hasn't yet found a home so it will probably just end up getting released onto DVD. Either way, I hope something happens soon; I'd really like to see this film.

From: CA | posted: 2/28/2012 at 3:40:34 PM ET I've been searching for this film too. A few times I thought I had it, but it was a streaming site that wanted my credit card info and I didn't trust the site.
Or I find a streaming site with the wrong film.
