"COMING UP ROSES follow a mother and daughter in 1980s New Hampshire. It is a dark comedy about the power of imagination, the force of reinvention, and the perils of growing up, at any age."

Yes, that is Bernadette with straight hair. I like the puffy jacket.

"Particular mention must be made of Bernadette Peters, who turns up briefly in a sort of sparkly Glinda the Good costume. She's the reluctant muse sent to help Alice with her writing. The muse is dressed like Oz, sounds like Queens and behaves like a bored student adviser." Alice Film Review, The New York Times, December 25, 1990

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 3/25/2010 at 3:07:28 PM ET At first I thought she must be playing a waitress in the film when I saw that gingham skirt. Then I spotted the high heels, no waitress could possibly work wearing those on her feet. Though if Bernadette was waiting on tables -- what's the betting she would!

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 3/25/2010 at 3:55:42 PM ET Well, she IS playing a former actress...
No, I see her as the owner of a flower shop, a dress shop, or running a motel/summer lodge, something that she is in control of. I am surprised at the costumes, I was thinking jeans & boots or a bohemian look (it's the 80s, in New Hamshire, & it's Bernadette, after all).
