Buffalo must seem like a hick town as there is no mention of her concert Tonight at Kleinhans music hall! It is a short ride for fans from Cleveland, Erie, Rochester, Syracuse, not to mention just across the border from Canada and Niagara Falls. It is 74 degrees here and promises to be a beautiful evening! There is a catered dinner before hand by on of the besy restaurants in town. You folks ought to come up sometime. We have a whole season of theatre in 20 locations, besides the historic Shea's theatre which brings Broadway shows from the first touring circuit! A great, small/big city...2nd largest in the state. Where are you!?

From: tonawanda,n.y. | posted: 9/22/2008 at 9:12:38 AM ET Bernadette in Buffalo was stupendous! She seems to look and sound better and better as she gets older. I was fortunate enough to have 3rd row center seats (a birthday gift) and saw every nuance in that beautiful face. And how peppy and sensual she moved across the stage! She came to the stage door and I was lucky to engage in a short conversation with her. She was coming down with a cold but graciously signed several autographs before leaving.
I thought our reviewer missed the boat on the Sondheim songs! These are always her most sensitive and powerful renditions- and the audience truly wants to hear them..and gave her momentous applause for them! ...too bad some reviewers are NOT sold on them. Mingling with the crowd afterward, I overheard nothing but great praise for her performance and "she can't really be sixty, can she"!?

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 9/22/2008 at 10:07:52 AM ET Refreshing to see that there's someone who doesn't feel the need to genuflect and worship at the alter of Stephen Sondheim. I am a great admirer of a lot of his work, but occasionally cringe at his embarrasingly obvious "Chambers Rhyming Dictionary" lyrics, and often, dare I say, find some of his tunes a tad pedestrian.

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 9/22/2008 at 12:14:26 PM ET You're right! But he only started to use Clement Wood's Complete Rhyming Dictionary because he had used up all of the 35,000 rhymes in the Chambers Rhyming Dictionary.

Yikes! In concert, and on the Sondheim CD's, I recall Bernadette singing only the melodic songs, and I love every one of them!" Johanna, No One Is Alone,Not a Day Goes By, Small World and the songs from Gypsy, Losing My Mind(Follies),BEING ALIVE !"Shall I go on? ( Wish she'd include more songs from "Gypsy";and more from the shows she did with A.L.Webber. and other composers in her concerts)
Anyway, I'm having "Bernadette" withdrawal right now! Seems one waits so long for a concert you can go to,then it's over too fast...and she's gone! It isn't just her voice I miss, it's her whole beautiful person . Gosh, I'm lonely. Many of you will understand this feeling....
And Scottie, have you ever seen Bernadette in person? It's HOW she sings each song that is captivating. She doesn't need...fireworks... lavish video in the background...just Marvin and some lovely orchestration. I'm so lonely...

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 9/22/2008 at 7:23:31 PM ET Fireworks and video in the background ... sounds like a Madonna concert. I think Bernadette could sing an a capela version of the alphabet backwards and make it sound great -- and meaningful.
