Hey, as long as you don't end a sentene in a preposition, I don't care what you split.

And I say better to end with a preposition than a proposition.

this is my first post ever on this forum!
hello everyone, my name is robin =]

i just got back from the concert. i had the time of my life! sadly, i didn't get to go to the stage door to meet bernadette, but the concert was so great that it made up for it! she looked as beautiful as always, and put on a fantastic show. i can't remember the exact setlist, but she sang these songs....

being alive, mister snow, there is nothin' like a dame, fever, shenandoah, kramer's song, you could drive a person crazy, not a day goes by, johanna, no one is alone, unexpected song, when you wish upon a star, let me entertain you....i can't remember the rest, but there were quite a few more songs. this was my first bernadette concert, and most definately not my last. i've been a fan since i was a little girl, and i FINALLY got my chance to see her in person! it was a great concert! can't wait to see pictures! there were no cameras allowed, but i'm sure someone got some pictures!

She was absolutely gorgeous last night!! I can't believe how amazing she was - I knew she would be great, but actually seeing her live... She's so, so, so talented (yes, I know, big surprise! ). Her acting (I can't even just call it singing) is just breathtaking.

Her setlist was:

Let Me Entertain You
No One Is Alone
Nothing Like A Dame
Fever
Unexpected Song
Mr. Snow
Some Enchanted Evening
Shenandoah
When You Wish Upon A Star/A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes
Joanna
Not A Day Goes By
You Could Drive A Person Crazy
With So Little To Be Sure Of/Children Will Listen
Being Alive
Kramer's Song

I was really, really sad that she didn't do Rose's Turn, but I'll just have to pester my mother to send me to another of her concerts now. Does anyone know if there's any rhyme or reason to when she sings Rose's Turn, or is it just whatever suits her whim?

I saw her at the stage door after and she was very sweet and signed my Gypsy poster. I'll try and see if I can get some pictures up later - my aunt was taking them and I don't know how well they came out.

thanks for the setlist!! i was hoping someone else who went to the concert would post a review!! i can't wait to see your pictures! i was too afraid of getting my camera taken, so i left the camera at home. it would've been so easy to get one in too!!

I don't know for sure why sometimes she does "Rose's Turn" and sometimes doesn't, but my guess is that she doesn't normally do it when she shares the show with a symphony or choir or whatever. If she does her full set (90 minutes) she seems to always do "Rose's Turn" from what I can tell.

She probably also goes by the audience's reaction to the show, and probably how she's feeling that night, but who knows, maybe she brings a dartboard with her backstage and if she hits the bullseye, she sings it.

I'm hoping she sings it when she performs in Orange County in May, with a gay men's chorus. But my guess is she'll be doing her short set then, so we'll see if my theory holds.

One of the chorus members posted about his experience on another message board and said that she was contracted for 70 minutes so she would have had to drop a few numbers. Interesting that she chose The Gentleman is a Dope, Move On and Rose's Turn. Here's a few excerpts from that guy's post:

I’ve heard it said that Marilyn Monroe could walk down the street in “Norma Jeane Baker” mode, and nobody would notice her. But as if flicking a switch, she went into "Marilyn Monroe" mode, and drew a crowd.

That’s the kind of transformation I witnessed yesterday. Our final rehearsal in the afternoon included a petite lady, a little shorter than her “official” height of 5’3”, dressed in jeans, a hoodie, sandals and hair in curlers, with minimal makeup. She was very sweet and professional, and her singing voice was warm and clear, but it was obvious that she was holding back, saving her voice.

Fast forward to last night, when a spotlight hit that petite lady, and Bernadette Peters was born. She just totally owned the 2300-person(!!!) audience, from the first time she opened her mouth, and it was so obvious that she enjoyed the experience every bit as much as the audience

But oh, the songs! Obviously several Sondheim songs, including the one we did with her. (Our original contract was for a half-hour set of our own, followed by an intermission, then her 70-minute set. Many of us refused to do it unless we could do at least one song WITH her. The obstacle wasn’t her, but her “people.” Once we communicated with her directly, she immediately agreed, and suggested Sondheim’s “You Could Drive a Person Crazy.”)

That's really interesting, PTM! Could you possibly post a link to the person's post? I'd really love to read their post.

The question still remains, however, how do you know when she's contracted to do her full set list?!? I'd really like to catch a whole concert, but I can't afford to just follow her around everywhere. :/ ... I wish...

I didn't take any videos/pics during the show - I was in 6th row and didn't want her to see me, lol. I likely would have screwed up and the flash would have gone off, because that's the way my life works. Plus, I didn't want anything distracting or detracting from the experience of being there, witnessing it...I had a kind of religious experience going there. I did, however, get some recordings, but they're pretty crappy as of now. I have to see if my Dad can fix them with his recording equipment, but I don't know when that'll happen so I can't really put a date on when they will be decent enough for listening purposes.

I was surprised that they didn't even have a poster up at the theater! What was up with that? Just her name in LED? I wanted to ask them if I could snag it after they were done with it, but there was no poster to ask to snag!

oh i know! i was really surprised about that too! there weren't any in the windows or anything either. hopefully some pictures will turn up somewhere. sometimes in concert review articles there are a few pictures, but there wasn't even a review! the free times had an interview with her last week, so maybe this wednesday when the new issue comes out, they'll have a review! i hope so!!
